I'm glad the USA did well. But I was most impressed by Ukraine, because their athletes have been training on the road since the war with Russia began. Kudos to them for keeping their spirits up and continuing to compete in these trying times.

Also, 31 minutes is about my target time for 5km - they are literally twice as fast as me, as well as keeping it going twice as long.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - olympic events should have a "guest" from a local club, just to show how far above and beyond these superhumans really are.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone really is a generational talent.

Totally majestic WR holder for the 400 hurdles, turns to the flat, becomes world champion in that and sets what most now consider the clean WR - in damp conditions. Absolutely phenomenal and all things being equal should take down Koch’s WR in due course.

Keely Hodgkinson is another phenomenal talent. Just taken a second off the longstanding indoor world record for 800m.

Only a quarter of a second off her outdoor best. She’s already 6th on the all time outdoor list and some of those above her are questionable. She’ll be expecting to move up that list in the summer.

Reigning Olympic champion and 5 global medals in total.

Not even turned 24 yet. The best should be yet to come.

A true superstar who may well end up being generational.
