From a "saved the day" point of view, I think Josh Lewsey's tackle on De Villiers last year was absolutely exceptional.

In terms of Save the day tackles: i think Worsley on Clerc towards the end of the WC semi was pretty darn good. France would have won without Worsleys fingertips.

What about Bryan Habana's 2 awesome tackles on Sackey in the final? After it the guy seemed hesitant to do anything... like he was scared

Makes you think, Habana isn't just fast runner.

Isitolo Maaka on Olo Brown

This king hit was well known through the rugby circles in NZ. A good old NPC match between Auckland & Otago. Isi knocked Olo for a 6, The then biggest tackle i have ever witnessed in my intire life. Isi was crouched on the ground then when a rampaging Olo came running off the flank of the ruck, all of a sudden WHAMO! Isi lunged at Olo from a crounching position, shoulder to the chest then the shoulder rose to Olo's head sending his head flicking back in an upward motion force and what was discrcibed by the commentator (Murry Mexted) as a sickening tackle.

Olo was moaning and growning on the ground twitching his right arm in the air. He took a full 8 minutes to come back around... The game was stopped for 10 minutes at the time of the king hit.

BIGGEST HIT EVER!

Mike Tindall's tackle on Gregan in the RWC Final 2003. Picked him up. Took him inot touch. Slammed him down. Gregan looked shocked, and it seemed to shake Australia.

Alex King on Chabal. Teeny King went up on Chabal, injured the dirty french ******* and Chabal was substitued off. 5 minutes after coming on.

But, there is only one tackle I think off when I read ***les like this.

I've no admiration for this kind of big tackles.
I prefer the Elissalde tackle against black or the Worsley tackle on Clerc during the demi.

But as previously mentioned that tackle on Gregan by tindall was awesome, for pure "WTF was he thinking !?" there's also the WWE wrestle tackle which also features in the video I posted

I was at Eden Park that night - seen the thing happening right in front of me - god that was impressing - you could nearly hear the hit from where I was seated... That's one of my fav tackle too - not the tackle it self cause the pass from carter is rubbish - but the fact the Masoe got knocked out on the action...that's quite hard to knock out some one on a tackle

Mustn't have been that hard a hit as Masoe didn't leave the field and kept playing, where in the 2nd test Chabal got an average hit from Collins and was off with a sore shoulder. None the less, that Masoe hit was huge, but less impressive as it was off a hospital pass.
