British and Irish Lions confirm 2017 New Zealand tour schedule

yes, i understand that, all i'm saying is that it is disingenuous to do so... because I think you have to judge Woodwards England on the world stage to define if they were a good side or not not just against the 6N sides.

Just out of curiosity? How's "Sir" Clive's soccer team these days and are they/he in the premiership yet?

Although, if truth be known.....Martin Johnson wasn't much of a coach either.

*** for tat aside, the English were the best in that era and deserved the RWC in 2003.

Yeah, Southampton. Probably the best run club in the league.

Didn't he leave there in 2006?
He was working for the Olympics for ages (until after London 2012, maybe?).

No, because if you read properly I didn't just talk about 6N. I also pointed out that SA and NZ had nutters in charge at that time as well. It will be a long while until SA are ever in such a disastrous state they were in 2002/03. Hence why England were the best of a weak field in 02/03.

Yeah, Southampton. Probably the best run club in the league.

When SCW was around they started their sliding way down from Premiership to League 1.

That was more Rupert Lowe's doing (the then chairman, SCW had nothing really do do with the running of the club, certainly not for the financial side of this which as the crux of their issues at that point). Anyway back on topic...

Rugby's Joey Barton had had a pop over the schedule and the fact theyre not playing in the PI's

I sort of get where he's coming from as it would make sense to go but at the end of the day its a New Zealand tour and the matches there will be tough enough to prepare the Lions
