Chabal at #8? I don't even think he was the best #8 of his generation, Harinordoquy brought more to the table.

If you're going "all time' and including players like Rives and Prat, Walter Spanghero should be a shoe in at #8 and it's hard to leave out Robert Paparemborde at prop.

I personally would chuck Cedric Heymans in there. Agree that Harinordoquy brought a lot more to the table than Chabal (who is a much more marketable option).

Pieter de Villiers was a quality TH too.

There is also Jean Michel Gonzales at hooker and Patrick Ondarts at prop deserving of consideration never mind Patrice Lagisquet (with my BO hat on!!)..............

Am most unimpressed that the greatest fly half believed to have played for France was Lamaison!!

The problem with threads like this is that past generations fall out of consideration by most of the younger contributors as they have never heard of them never mind seen them play!!

Harinordoquy offered far more than Chabal and had more longevity too.
