[COVID-19] General Discussion

Anyone else getting forwarded that ******** info claiming to be from Stanford hospital? Just had to tell my sister in law that she was spreading potentially dangerous info. Few others in work also received it from otherwise intelligent people.

Apparently you only need to hold your breath for 10 secs to prove that you haven't contracted it!!

Apparently the ten seconds is accurate, but it's not proving you haven't got it. It's giving an indication of whether you are developing a cough connected with corona virus before you get it. It doesn't account for any other symptoms or if you are infected.

This is going around on Facebook to show how truly alone in our approach we are.

There's strong rumours/evidence that we're ramping it up and restaurants and bars will be closed from Monday like Italy, and it will likely last up until the end of the school's Easter break which is five weeks.

It's the right decision to make considering how few hospital beds we have here and managing the death rate has to be the priority. But this needs to be addressed as outbreaks like these are predicted to be more commonplace.

On a personal level I'm finding it tough right now. Between worrying about at risk family members (plans to travel up north tomorrow have been cancelled), a new job I'm meant to start in the next few weeks and a few other recent setbacks that I'd usually deal with through sport, gym and socialising I'm going to have to adapt.

Keep well mate , here there has been alot of talk about the mental hardship of isolation be it total or partial or just the ones who choose to do so.
Even if just through online chat a problem shared is a problem halved.
Old saying but talking helps bud been in a dark place myself before.

Dunno how many own small businesses, or whatever - but if anyone wants to; I've knocked these together for posting on FB / insta / twitter / front window.
Anyone who wants to, can feel free to pinch them (sized for instagram)

This is going to get worse before it gets better lads. Sterkte mensen! There are things in your control and things outside your control. Focus on the latter. Wash your hands every hour (put an alarm if need be to remember) and avoid unnecessary risks, that should cover 80% of it.
Argentina has just stated that as of tomorrow, every no resident cannot go back for 30 days from Europe/US. That means, no wedding, no births, no funerals we can attend to.

The washing the hands is the key. And this needs to be effective as well. It peeves me off that I still see other gents just take a **** and then not wash their hand, but let's face there are a lot who don't. But also those who just put their hands under the water for a few seconds and then think that's it. If anything is going to come out of this crisis it's got to be everyone washing their hand properly.

So what has been peoples shopping habits be honest are you hoarding.
Me went to my local town today at 2pm dead as a dodo Boris no need to put more measures in people are already doing it , info is working just go if you need to.
No hand soap totally understand.

Digestive biscuits as above.
Had to go Wilko for an item.
No Toilet seats yes I'm serious a staff member said ' we've had a run on them' guess UK must be Norovirus.
Went to local bar dead as which was nice as me and Mrs duncanb could have Tapas drinks no fighting for table or long wait.
My observation kids under 20 don't worry about this.
Oldies over 50 realise we had worse threats than this in our lives.
20 to 50 have had it good and never had it so good to quote a saying or generally faced dangers and are sh&%$@g themselves as its playing with there minds.
Stay safe wash your hands.

Well someone started off sensibly then started talking out their arse.
Well why list reasons instead of what you choose to judge others by.
If you can make your answers bigger than fit on a postage stamp.
It is a genuine reply not a troll .
It's what all older people are talking about and saying.
Heyho your choice

Then older people are ******* idiots. Seriously all that age crap you posted is just complete horeshit.

So what do you guys think is realistically going to happen with competitions that has been suspended due to the Corona virus. The rugby season is already tightly packed and if it is suspended four a couple of weeks then the domestic competitions might start overlapping with the international seasons. The SH does not do the int VS Dom overlap like they do in the NH. The Corona virus will first get worse before it gets better so realistically I think no rugby for Atleast four weeks minimum.

So if they rather call of the competitions instead of just moving it forward which I think is more likely then what is the procedure? Will this year just be a blank year where there is no winner? So would Liverpool lose out on the ***le if the premier league season is suspended? Will they just give it to the first placed side? Liverpool fans are probably ******** themselves now because they were about to win it. Same thing with all the other comps, will the Sharks or Exeter or Sale or Leinster just take the spoils?

I have so many questions! What's more likely a suspended season, a Called off season or a rescheduling?

My guess is called off, no winner.
Sucks for the sides but, as you say, there's simply not enough time in the rest of the year to fit everything being called off in.
Looks like it's going to he a minimum of a month of called off fixtures and the year is already set with fixtures for next season (like they said the six Nations games will be played in the autumn but when? The autumn internationals are already set in stone and tickets sold and I doubt the club's would be happy to lose their players for another game....and then there's the multiple rounds of domestic/euro rugby etc.)

I think the best thing to do is just write it off, realistically.

As someone who has no skin in the game (not a supporter of any team in the leagues that are in the lead). I think most will be called off. In football, premier league, they have played more than 70% of the games and one team has a runaway lead, should just call it as it stands.

Other leagues though are tighter and have a lower number of games completed so far. Think they will just get scrapped honestly.

EDIT: talk for premier league is that Liverpool will get it, the top two sides from the championship will be promoted, English cup is scrapped for the year, 22 teams play premier league for a year and 5 teams get relegated at the end of next season.

I'm so tired so this crap. World wide panic over something that should not be so big. Don't trust the media people. They are experts at blowing things out of proportion and downright lying. Just keep clean and you will be fine.
