I think the PWR salary cap is £220K, though that’s a bit of a misleading figure compared to the men’s prem as all the contracted internationals are paid by the unions not the clubs so, in effect, lots of clubs have 10+ marquees.

I've not seen anything to suggest that internationals in PWR aren't paid by the club as well.

Just need to correct this.
Bristol absolutely would have, but could not afford to keep her. In fact, Maher only came to Bristol in the first place due to the staff and off field stuff as she had better financial offers elsewhere. She wanted to repay the things Bristol had done for her before moving on, hence the 3 month contract.
The salary cap in PWR is extremely restrictive. £220,000 total per club (plus limited add ons, nothing ridiculous and many players are essentially part-time as they don't make a realistic living wage so work other jobs or are in education)

From all the talk of extreme scorelines it’s not that different to the men’s game in reality just more consolidated and distinctive tiers.

Probably makes me a bad person but I haven’t watched a second of this bar the odd look at the red roses. May, or may not, check in on the later stages but I don’t otherwise follow the women’s game and I’m not going to feign an interest in watching countries I have no connection to or players I’m totally unfamiliar with. I guess everyone gets different things from the sport and there should be room for us all.
Well, yes. For the same reasons as last week, and as happen in the men's game when it's professionals vs amateurs and there's a huge difference in the rankings.
My apologies if I came across as judgemental - certainly wasn't meant that way, and not liking what you did see, doesn't remotely make you a bad person.
We all like different things, and yes, jeopardy is compelling.
Personally, so are silky skills, even with a lack of jeopardy - which is why I'm a rugby Francophile. Watching the French team of the late-80s & early-90s fell me in love with the game. Watching the French women's team of the mid-10s fell me in love with the women's game. Their ability to say "f*** it, let's just have some fun" is refreshing and, to me, compelling.
Which doesn't mean that anyone else has to agree with me.
Yup, if you want jeopardy and a an existing / national connection - then this RWC isn't likely to have anything for you before the SF stage, and probably not until the final itself - which is absolutely fine.
Equally, if anyone is looking for skills, cohesion, game management and brutality to rival the men's game, then you're not going to find it in the women's game.

Not said anything after seeing England vs Samoa. So a couple of points.
Amazed at how quick Jess Breach is, and also Ellie Kildunne from watching her in the warm ups.
I was sat near the TV presenters. Ruby Tui, Gabby Logan and Maggie Alphonsi who were all busy with the crowd and kids when off camera, so really impressed. Big shout to Lioness Chloe Kelly who signed stuff for every kid who asked.
Northampton town gets a biased mention. They had adverts and displays for the competition everywhere. They really tried to make an effort.
Finally it seemed the kids especially young girls in attendance looked to be having a great time. I know comments have been made about the results etc not bringing new people into the game.
I think even if just a small percentage of those kids ask mum and dad to take them to Saints or the local club to play. Then that one sided result did it's job
Maybe even one of those kids will be the next Chloe Kelly, Jess Breach or Alex Mitchell some day. I certainly hope so.
