Every team will be playing their strongest in the knockouts, and in at least two group games. We won't be any different.
Not so sure about that and the timing of games is clearly against us....
Pool A: Ire and Sco will be at full strength vs each other but they, esp Ire, should be able to mix it up against Jap, Rus and Sam.
Japan shouldn't be taken lightly on home soil, but the crunch match will almost certainly be Ire v Sco on 22nd Sept allowing both sides to rest, at least some, top players until the QF weekend 19 / 20 Oct.
Pool B: NZ and RSA won't need full strength teams to dispose of Ita, Nam or Can.
Crunch match: NZ vs RSA is on 21st Sept, and there is absolutely no need for either side's top boys to appear again until the QFs a month later.
Pool C: Eng's group.
We have Arg on 5th Oct and France on 12th Oct. Likely full strength sides for both with no opportunity for rest or to get over minor knocks before the QF the following weekend.
Pool D: Aus and Wal will be at full strength against each other, but will be able to mix it up against Geo, Fiji and Uru
Crunch match: Aus v Wal is 29th Sept, so again that's 3 clear weeks before the top guys need to be wheeled out for the QFs.
The coaches of Wal, Ire, RSA, NZ and Aus may not want their top players inactive for 3 weeks or a month, but they have the choice and can manage their workload and recovery from injuries before the knockout stages start. We're just going to have to cross fingers.
