I have to say. I agree. The animations look mighty familiar. A little dissappointing. I think I'm going to wait for reviews of both games and play it by ear.

Pretty bad trailer I'd say.
Given that it's been four years since their last rugby game (yes I'm aware they haven't been working on this one for all four of those years) what we've got is a game which looks basically exactly the same (graphics and animations) as a PS2 game, with less stadiums, less teams, less licenses, and less competitions.
And yes I liked Rugby08 so I understand most of the defences on here being something akin to "08 was good, so if this is similar it will be good too"
But if it has nearly identical gameplay as 08, but with far less content, why should we buy this instead of just continuing to play 08? That's why I'll be buying Rugby Challenge.
Still, I suppose we should wait for the demo before we crucify it completely.

come on guys hb already told us not much work was put into the graphics of the game..... but they put the gamble on the gameplay. so what if the trailer looks crap. i guess thats why they put out the demo out. hmmm man i hope so anyways. :S but i did like how that grass looked 
Look at the end of the day everyone is entitled to their own opinion and until any of us have have had a chance to play both titles all we can go on for now is how things look.

I'm not judging the game until the demo but whatever happens I'm still getting both RWC11 and RC because I need to play something to play during the RWC.

At first i was a little dissapointed in that it looked similar to Rugby08 - although the kicking does look different
Rugby 08 was pretty good and now we have the following improvements to look forward to:
- We can play online!!!!!!
- Better rucking
- Improved kicking mechanics
- Great graphics
- and did i mention...we can play online!!!!!!!!
still cant wait for the game

Sorry to sound gloomy guys but this looks just like Rugby 08, I can't spot any difference, maybe the graphics are a bit better but apart from that, the set pieces, the tackles and the set pieces look exacly the same, and even that annoying "players running aimless like headless chicken" feeling remains.

All those haters out there, turn on your xbox 360 or ps3 and load up a better rugby game...
This is the first next gen rugby game, produced by guys working on an extremely limited budget, who have been ridiculously active in responding to the community's questions. Personally, like many of you, I have played every single rugby game to date. This will be better than all of them. With improved defence, rucking and kicking, what more can you ask for? Even if Rugby 08 was released today on xbox 360, I'd go out and buy it in a heartbeat. It's a very solid platform, a lot of fun.

That really is a load of rubbish to be honest. What your saying is we should be grateful for something, anything because were fans of rugby and there is little to no competition? No! We all know where games are now, where technology is and its way beyond whats being shown here.
We can speak about limited budgets, there is nothing better out there, they speak to the fans all day, but is that what you think about when your playing a rugby game?

I love there are all these people saying they are dissapointed that this and that and this and that is wrong with the game when actually all they have seen is some screen shots and a trailer that does not show actual game play but recorded footage. Funny thing is the graphics are better than Rugby 08, and no the tackle simulations are not the same as 08, they might be similar but they are not the same, and lets face it, there are so many ways a person can get tackled realistically. Stop complaining all the time like stupid little fan boys, be thankful for the fact that there is a rugby game coming out and hopefully ones beyond that which will get better and better each year.

You can say technology is way beyond whats being shown here, but what have you actually seen of this? Nothing more than small clips put together, does not show ACTUAL game play. Do you have any idea what kind of budget is actually needed to make a game with new technology? Even Fifa does not use all the new technology and they have EA, one of the richest companies in the world. What you say is complete nonsense, that 'Just because there isnt anything better, doesnt make it acceptable.' Doesnt make the game acceptable in your stubborn, critical, greedy eyes... Yep, that will help us move forward in the genre. Let the developers know we will lap up any old tat .. .because what choice do we have?

Ok so if you haven't got the budget for the brand new technology then dont make the game your saying. So lets take out 50% of games that are being made and be left with specific games by specific rich companies that dont give a **** about what your opinion is on their game or what you think needs to be done. Nice.
There is a big difference complaining to help more the genre forward and make it better and complaining about tackle simulations ruck simulations and passing simulations. As i said, there is only a certain number of ways you can tackle and pass the ball realistically.

Thats exactly what im saying. Until the technology is available to stop players bunching up and chasing the ball in a 20+ strong pack, rugby games should be left well alone.

Yeah, why don't you try making a rugby game then? They aren't making it on a low budget for a challenge, it reflects the commercial viability of a rugby game. I didn't say that this is all we deserve, this is all that hb can do on the budget they have. If you don't like it, don't post on the forums and don't buy the game.

Where games are now is because they've been building upon a platform for so long, find below one of many poor reviews of the first FIFA game on the 360
"I have played the original Xbox FIFA 07 game and it was the bee's knee's, it has it all...however I upgraded to the Xbox 360 and traded in all my old x box games. I bought FIFA 07 for the 360..and found it had lost all the magic...you can no longer turn players, it has lost all its tricks, You get tackled every five seconds, a player running with the ball at their feet is faster than a guy chasing after him, when you are defending and you want to change players it takes for ever for the right player to be highlighted and by that stage a goal has been scored...as you can tell I am very very disappointed with the results from this game and I advise anybody else to 'try before you buy' because this game isnt all that cracked up to what it is meant to be!!!"
Even with EA's massive budget there was less features and teams on the HD 360 version than there was on the PS2 and Xbox original.

I find your arrogance actually rather amusing. How on earth do you know that players bunch up in 20+ strong packs and chase the ball, you haven't played the game and you haven't seen game play footage. You pick up on every single thing that YOU don't like from what YOU can see which clearly isn't very much. You come on these forums and post to act like a rugby fan yet you say making a game for rugby should be left alone until so called player bunching from what you can see stops, please just stop complaining, stop trying to act like you know what your talking about. If you don't like it don't fill these forums with negativity and don't buy the game, see if anyone cares.

Looks great guys. Getting RWC11 and RC. Gotta get my cclub fix, and they have Pro 12, and you know what that means....? LEINSTER!!!! But super psyched to blow through the World Cup.
Dare I suggest you watch the trailer of RWC2011 again? Around the 0.41 mark should make particularly interesting viewing.
I understand what your saying, but it was new tech at the time. There is a problem with allowing HB studious 4 years with the xbox360 to get back up to speed .... We will be playing on a newer console in 4 years. But lets not worry about that, HB should have caught up with things by 2019.

The trailer wasn't best one RC has a better presentation. But then again i haven't play the game so making a decision based on a trailer is foolish. But the graphics did not look that good and it looked like a updated version of '08. Maybe we are spoiled with all the good looking games nowedays on the Xbox360 and PS3 so i guess we all have to wait untill the demo release!

I don't think we should be grateful for anything. We are consumers and not receiving this item in the name of charity and good faith. Many will be shelling out full price for either title which is quite a few hours of work for some people. Hell, I'd be grateful if they said you could have this product for free but to show case that piece of crap and expect people to pay 60 Euro for that? Go **** yourself HB.

I know employees of both Sidhe and HB would never sink as low as that!I think we have every right to complain seeing as i can get hold of Rugby 08 for £4 in CEX. This is about £30-£40 and everything in this looks like a dupe off Rugby 08, the tackles, passing, diving, everything. It's highly worrying. And don't forget that it isn't fully licensed and only has international teams. What the hell is going on? Rugby Challenge has me on board 100% now. I'm sure this has all been said, but i'm quite annoyed at this so am voicing my opinion.
