Fixtures 22/23

I'd imagine the following players will be released straight away/pretty quickly as didn't actually play.

Jefferies, Rodd, Walker, Schickerling, Dingwall, Randall, Furbank, May. I'd also assume J Willis, Isiekwe, Joseph, Marchant, Arundell and Cokanasiga won't be too bad.

Also on Leicester, surely Dolly would play? or will the 6 nations take him out of contention, as if thats the case Marchant will be out.

IMO the clubs shouldn't be able to request an early return barring an injury crisis.
Otherwise the rest period is for show, not actually for player welfare.

Every club will want their best players playing, and don't really care about their post-rugby health, or at least, nowhere near as much as they do about winning this weekend.
Pretty much every player will want to play if requested A] because it's who they are, and what they're driven to do, and B] because going against the club's wishes affects future employability / contract offers.
RFU are too worried about their god relations with the clubs (especially after the complete mess of the first 15 years of professionalism)
RPA are too worried about player salaries and future prospects to go around throwing any weight around - are also made up of the same personality types that just want to play, even with an arm hanging off.

Those on tour should all get the full 10 weeks.
Even if they didn't play a single game, they've still been out there, in the work environment, not getting time off to recuperate (possible exception of Jonny May - who, let's face it, is unlikely to have taken on the role of video analyst whilst suffering covid)

Injured - annihilated his knee in the semi-final (I think it was?)
ahhh well remembered. So realistically, Sarries, Quins, Saints and Leicester are going to have their squads really tested by this all.
So if the worst happens with Wasps am I to assume we don't start our season till R3?
I think you will be ok on that front. Realise our bond repayment went over but extended to 12 Aug. It seems we will get an official statement on the 29 July but it sounds like in unison with HSBC PLC as Senior Debt Provider, and with refinancing to complete and redemption of bonds at nominal amount to take place on or before 12th Aug 2022, with interest for accured period from 13th May 2022 to date of redemption.

I think the whole Wasps issue over repayments is an interesting angle because there are multiple factors influencing it. I am hopeful although that in the short term due to covid and lack of access to the stadium/additional revenue we could have made, that we will get back on track, otherwise the new training facilties wouldn't have been built.

Also should point out that Simon Gilbert whose one of the political analysts for the bbc is a sky blue and isn't a fan of us haha

Falcons away

Although he's crazy in term of his fitness stuff popping off on his IG with workouts

Due to how tigers gameplay I'm hopeful we get through it all. It's a pretty simple plan and isn't reliant on individuals on the whole. Potter, Ashton and Watson are all good kick chasers and Burns is a top player to have as back up 10 with Youngs or Wigglesworth box kicks

For Wasps its a weird one. It really depends on if we can utilise the periods where the top squads are limited with their Internationals. In theory the forward pack is very strong and the backs aren't too bad either but we have to utilise our attack. We have been excellent in defence but our attack mysteriously has fallen away.

Wasps for me are way too vulnerable at lock still
Launchbury is world class but at this point he's like Manu you can't plan for him to be fit.
Koch is a interesting one top class BUT he's played with the SA tight 5 which is the best in the world and then at club level he's had 4 British and Irish lions around him for the majority of his time there.
Wasps have a good starting loosehead in West but outside him it's quite a drop off.

So i agree Lock is an odd one. Launchbury will be brilliant but with Stooke out for a decent chunk of time its concerning. McDonald is an unknown and is very good but there is 100% a step up required from Cardall, Vukasinovic and Alfie Bell. Shields can play lock but a tall order.

Rodrigo Martinez is my shout at loosehead after West. Martinez is an international Argentinean loosehead and was very good when available. I'd back him.

Typical of rugby in this country.
International players will only play 11 league matches next season.

Aj should be back for his return fixture to the aj

Also crazy that England requests an out of window game the same season that they need the players off early in the summer

Thinking about next year I'm really happy with our 1st team now but not sure who will be missing from the start of the season.

Players like Furbank and Dingwall didn't play at all over the summer so not sure if they get the break or not? And also assume all the other internationals can play straight away as there is no mandatory break for the Scottish/ welsh ones is there?

1. Iyogun
2. Matevesi
3. Painter
4. Ribbans
5. Lukhan Salakaia-Loto
6. Lawes - swap for Angus Acott-Young
7. Ludlam - swap for Aaron Hinckley
8. Augustus
9. Mitchel
10. Biggar
11. Freeman - swap for Ramm or Skosan
12. Hutchinson
13. Dingwall - swap for Proctor
14. Proctor - swap in either Slighthelm or Collins
15. Furbank - swap in one of the other wings

Hoping we don't lose Hutchinson and Biggar and Matavesi on top of the above.
