Flooding

********!

Not the rivers flooding this time, but looks like it's just local rainfall in the garden at work that overcame the drain and back door.
We've been in Tewkesbury since 2006, before the big flood of 2007, and several others that have closed the town - this is the first time I've come to find a wet floor at work.

flooding has caused the drainage at Plough Lane to fail and the pitch subside :(

We have a local road that floods regularly they continually forget to take down the flood signs once it drys again.
If it's anything like here, it's not that they forget to take the sign away, it's because they can't until they've given the road a safety inspection.

Doesn't stop anyone moving the signs here either, including when the water is high; but if you drive on a road that's been closed - it's your own fault if you damage your car there (and your insurance company won't be sympathetic to "but I thought I knew better") - if the road's been given the all clear, but eg. that drain cover is actually loose/absent and you kill your suspension, then you can sue the country council (I think it's county council responsible for these things).

Of course, when the Severn / Avon are flooding, the road safety inspectors are both working overtime AND can take a while to get to such-and-such a road.

Its gloucestershire highways usually. Which is county council.

Wife works for borough council they get a lot of complaints for stuff not under their control. She gets grumpy when it's me on her lunch break...;)
