Have you ever hated a player on your own team?

I was talking with one of my friends today and we got talking about Leinster in the early 00's and I remembered how much I hated Brian O'Meara, I remember waiting after a Leinster match once to get autographs from all the players. I succeeded but I refused to get O'Meara's.

It was because he was a very bad place kicker and lost numerous games for Leinster, including a HEC semi in 03 vs Perpignan where he lost the game on his own. I was only about 7-8 at the time.

I was just wondering if any of you remember players or if there are players currently on your side who you hate and would rather never have played for your club.

Cant say I have ever hated a player on a team I support. I've not approved of some but never hated them. Like BG8 I have despised people I have played with/against.

I'm pretty sure BG8 was implying that he hates me but that's ok because deep down I know he loves me as much as I love him. ;)

I've played with a guy who was a complete thug so I didn't have much time for him. He's doing time now for glassing someone that tried to chat up his girlfriend.

Never felt so passionately against a player on a team I support. I certainly didn't and don't have much love for Zac Guildford, and I was pretty pleased when he went to the Crusaders.

In terms of players I've played with, the captain of my team last year was probably the person I dispise the most. Would put players down during games, make dumb decisions, brag about how good he was and worst of all he stole money from the team raffel so he could get wasted in town - and none of the coaches did anything about it. The only reason he was captain was because he was the coach's son's best friend and had known him for a long time.

Never hated a player on my own team, but certainly not been a fan of a few.

With England, I never really liked Nick Easter. I appreciate he is a good player, and does get through an awful lot of work, mainly the dirty work no one else wants to do and never receives praise. Its just he always appears lazy on the pitch to me, sluggish and slow, but like I say, I know he's not, just the way I saw him in the England jersey.

For Tigers, I must admit, i've never really been a fan of Louis Deacon, a decent club player, but I prefer to see Mafi & Parling start where possible, with Kitchener ahead of Deacon

Plenty of people I felt were bad players have played for Leinster since the game turned professional but I never hated any of them once they put in effort. Owen Finegan is one player who just seemed to be here for the paycheck and as such I had very little time for him and was glad when he departed.

This part made me laugh during an Amber Alert. Thanks for making me feel like a terrible human being, (In the States, when a child goes missing, they put out an Amber Alert on all forms of local media).

As for the question, I'm rather new-ish to the international rugby stage, so there are no Irish, Connacht, or American players that I hate. That being said, after the Wales vs. Ireland game, I quickly garnered a severe dislike for Adam Jones. On a personal level, I've never played with someone I didn't like, but that was because the VP of our club never showed up to practice and therefore never played or even made the trip for our first ever game. Got to play against him in a scrimmage with the city club one time, however, with myself playing hooker and he tighthead. He seemed pretty good and poached a ball or two from me, so I targeted him a little, in open play and in scrums.

Well I haven't had a player in my team that I've hated... that's a bit of a strong word... but a guy I very much dislike is Wilhelm Steenkamp...

My brother on the other hand, who is a big Stormers supporter absolutely HATES Sireli Naqelivuki

Slomo is a very apt name for the man. He had me very frustrated at times, yeah but I can't say I 'hated' him as such. Players that came very close to me hating them though;

Luke Watson
JD Moller
Ricky Januarie
Corne Krige
actually so many of the 'older' guys so I'm just gonna stop at Krige who was the worst f the lot IMO

Over the current 6N ROG has been up there but I still respected what hes done for Irish rugby over the last 10 years so I wouldn't say hate.

People I've played with hmm two spring to mind one was just a general cocky asshole pretty-boy fly-half who I played with for school, very arrogant and lazy was nice to see him get dropped to the 2nd team. Also he played for a different club so when we played early in the season got to knock the **** out him, I definitely targeted him.

The 2nd was a winger at our club, he was just so f*cking useless but at the same time he seemed to think he was a good player, he was to slow and fat to play on the wing, could tackel and couldn't even use his size effectively. The guy once had a clear run in off a sliced box kick not even touched yet he still managed to drop the ball over the line. Also when ever someone made a mistake he'd be shouting at them putting them down and not sticking his hand up every other second when he ****ed something up.

That was a nice little rant.

Steve Bothwick was the worst player ever to play or captain England but I always felt Will Carling was a smug W£$nker so would have to go with him.

From a Tigers point of view....not sure didnt used to like Julian Whites explosive nature but I did chuckle when he put Andrew Sheridan on his backside.

anyone from Ballymena I have ever played against or watched always turned out to be a bit mouthy and eager to sling a fist. Any other team I had a chatted with after agreed, it was crazy.
I think it was two weeks ago a friendly game ended and I was helping to coach the minis and out the corner of my eye saw a wee boy from Ballymena Under 17's turned around and digged one of the younger lads in the tunnel off the pitch. Our boy did nothing like the nice lad he is. Derby matches are always pretty intense...
When I was a scrum half looking back to last year I'm sure most people hated me, not cause I was good or anything I was just a foul mouthed boot happy wee git. Never again will I do that got a few smacks for my troubles and wised up

Never passionately hated a player on the teams I support. I've certainly held irrational likes and dislikes about players on my teams, but by and large when I don't have a reason for hating/loving the player I realise it's not really anything to brood over.

However, in my school team I did end up playing with an absolute tool bag of a flanker. Dislike on both a personal and a player level. He was definitely a good player but the work he did was the more than slightly illegal work at the breakdown. It worked well sometimes but he probably got pinged at the same rate as a crap schoolboy prop up against the Beast.
