Leicester Tigers salary cap breach?

(takes hand of third eye) you punished saracens for trying to win in November of 2019. You are 12-6 since with a PD of +117. In the 18 matches before you were 13-5 with a PD of +322. Culture starts at the top boys.

Interesting....

Wasps were also charged in the 2016/17 season for cap breach £40,258 and got fined £20,264 for it but ours was deemed a "not a breach in regulations with no suggestion deliberate... number of adjustments were identified by the independent auditors which resulted in the overrun. These have now been addressed."

So 3 clubs breached in one season, Wasps 40k, Leicester 147.75k and Sarries 1.1m

Also i just had the look at the Sarries breakdown, 16/17 - £1.1m then £98k in 17/18 and then 18/19 906k , what happened to payments in 17/18

time to delete this thread now imo

and before that Cips and Piutau.

And now.... we broke.... Also did anyone think that Gopps and Bassett would be the ones still here... also... Wade:( I miss him.
Any indication of just how bad the financial situation is mate? I've heard mutterings but nothing too concrete. I know Wasps have been making large losses for a number of years.

So i know we lost £7.4m last financial year... much like all clubs, COVID limited us. I believe where we are financially more viable is that the club is part of the larger Wasps Holding which includes the entirety of the arena, other teams and the hotel/casino.

The ground was valued at £52.4m and Invested Units was valued at £17.6m whilst you have to remember during COVID (2020/21) season we lost 34 exhibtions on average (incl. Concerts, Events etc) and Hotel RevPAR (£62) and F&B spend per head of £6.64.

All in all a large loss of earnings. I think where Wasps are lucky is that our other revenue streams have helped stem the tide of financial issues. Thew new training facility also has helped us. In reality i think we the reduction in star names and a tighter control on budget we are better than before but are deeply dependent on Richardson and external funding (via hotel & other ground uses).

The liklihood is we will be re-financed on the bonds too.

Yeah really miss Wade even in the shittest game more often than not he would create a moment of two of magic.

It sounds very much like a Sarries type issue, trying to find a competitive edge and used a loophole thats blown up in their face.

I wonder what the repurcussions will be? Realistically i've heard Genge is on 320k and MGinty will at least match Sheedy etc. whose at 150k plus and Bradbury won't have left for much under 200k and Ibitoye has come in too.

So with only Alex Groves, Ben Bamber and Attwood gone.. there will be some serious changes needed to get under the salary cap.

Apparently Bristol have paid out the arse for MacGinty - got into a bit of a bidding war with us (which was smart play by his agent as he'd already made up his mind to leave)

Issue is, who are they going to sell them too? Other premiership clubs are all having the same issue, though to a lesser extent and don't have much room for players. They are likely to have to look overseas really. Also the player has to agree and I don't see them being offered the same salary as what they were on at Bristol if clubs know Bristol are desperate to sell. Players might be forced to choose between a reduced salary or get into a big face off with Bristol.
