Not sure what PdV is thinking here. Hopefully we'll get an official statement from him personally. As it stands it looks like a very risky move indeed. Butch is off form and is struggling to keep up with this level of rugby, this stage in his career. Having only one flyhalf in your squad is bordering on insane.
Maybe he wants to give them some game time in the Currie Cup, before bringing them in the setup for the home leg of the TN? I sure hope so. To date PdV has been erratic in selections and tactics, and that trend looks set to continue.
