Come on guys, this is getting silly.

Every blog/forum has more lurkers than posters. It's the nature of the medium.

There are very good reasons for wanting to read the information and discussions that take place on this forum without wanting to wade into the fray.

Is this site a resource and community for the rugby world or a clubhouse for people who have time on their hands to participate in flamewars and work on their sigs.

How long before the minimum is upped to 20?

I am not going to allow my site be leached for information. Our EA Rugby sports section is one of our biggest lights, we have exclusive information that nobody else gets access to. Why should I let my biggest pull go out to any Tom, Dick and Harry?

I don't see what the fuss is anyway - it's 10 posts, I am not asking for any money, I am not asking for world peace, I am not asking for Manchester United to be liked, I am not asking for anything unreasonable, I am asking for people to get involved on the board. I think that's the least anyone can do. I am sick to death of people signing up, reading, then going away until the next game comes around.

Do your bit for the board. I am not a freebie.

Right you don't like the post count being 10 posts then we now charge £2 for entry into the EA Sports Rugby forum...

So which would you prefer 10 Decent posts which could end up being 1000 decent posts in no time at all or £2 for every 3 Months???

It's more of a problem that people come on, read three posts from any random thread and then their first 10 posts are all simply rehashed reiteration of the previous posts.

Sorry, but many forums do not have literally thousands of lurkers, all leeching off of one tiny section of a site dedicated to real life rugby!

There are only 40 or 50 people who contribute to this forum on a regular basis. As much as it might dissapoint you lurkers out there, St Helens Fan & getofmeland did not set up this forum as a free for all for all you lazy students out there with a dusty Xbox or Xbox 360 who want to get some tips & cheats so that you can impress the rest of your flatmates over a couple of tins and some pizza. Oh yes, I know exactly how this all works.

It is this bit which I object to the most:

Is this site a resource and community for the rugby world or a clubhouse for people who have time on their hands to participate in flamewars and work on their sigs.[/b]

We are only restricting access to the Rugby 08 so actually this place still is a resource and a community for the rugby world. It is not a clubhouse for flamewars and sig art, we may have loud arguments and Dumbo may insist on being a sexual deviant towards me (to the point where if we did all have a night out, I'd fear I'd wake up to find his wang on my face :cryy: ) but this is all light hearted and at the end of the day, we log off and go about our daily lives.

Essentially what you want is the Rugby 08' section to be reopened. That, my friend is patently not going to happen.

am not asking for Manchester United to be liked,[/b]

 haha

i can deffinatly see where the moderating team is coming from. 10 posts isnt a big ask. hell i think at least 9 posts have just been made!! collectively we only have to make one more post!

its a bit like a porn forum in some aspects. want the prize but not prepared to earn it haha.

I find it annoying that it is at 10 now because the only thind i would discuss is rugby 08 but i cant enter that now

ahhhhhh ronarrin strikes again! i neg repped the kid for being so absolutely useless that he can only flood the whole place with pointless posts... doesnt he know hes the reason behind it being upped to 10!?!?

We have to deal with kids like that every day. It all starts with a sudden rash of posts by a single user, its so obvious really! Then we just check to see how long the posts are and if they have any relevance to and add anything to the actual original thread at which point we decide which action to take.

The Most Recent trick just seems to be just to literally copy and paste what someone has already said.

There was one guy who combined that technique and just mashing key's on the keyboard... real inventive. OK, sure, I just deleted the crap he put forth and bumped his post count back down, but it's the effort they put in. Would probably have been just as quick and saved us both some time to make 10 Serious Posts.

Ripper, that is a crazy idea! Writing serious posts?! That is just one step too far! I cannot believe that you would stoop so low as to suggest that our Rugby 08 members should actually contribute something other than endless spam to our forum!

That, sir, is it! Take your "common sense" and your "logic" and be gone from this palace of rugby! Your time is up!

I like to read threads and comment occasionally, but this forced posting is not gonna help anyone? Sounds like the moderators have too much time on their hands and have actually found a way to increase spam posts just to protect a bit of information that will be useless in about a weeks time once people get their hands on the game...

And who reviews the posts to determine what is "serious" or not? What are the criteria, surely if we are being forced to post, you should gives us exact guidlines as to what to post... maybe a skeleton format so we can just edit it slightly to suit ourselves...

Why does this forum have to be so anal!!!

Ok, so I'm over 10 posts now... at least by my counting, and I still can't access the thread... I've met your stupid criteria!!!!

Right. Have you got a better idea? Moderators don't have too much time on their hands and we are working are backsides off trying to clear the amount of spam people post, which when deleted doesn't count to your posts anyway. We are reviewing the posts to determine what's serious, and the simple criteria is that you make a post that contributete the discussions in whatever topic you choose to post or even create a discussion.

It's 10 posts man, you are not being asked to cut the tips off your fingers although at the moment I would like to do just that to several spammers and give them good enough reason to find it so difficult to post. As for your comment about reading threads and posting occasionally, read the following line carefully - you can still read threads in other areas of the forum to which you can contribute. Get in there and read and post. Simple

I am another who browses the site, including the EA sports section. Now the post count has been upped and I am someone who would post more but am finding the site kind of hard to navigate. I don't know how to find my way back to the following posts after where I have read/posted. This makes it hard to keep up with a thread and I'm not even sure which threads I have posted on, I asked a couple of questions in those posts and am actually keen to see any replies.

Click on 'my assitant' at the top right, on the window that opens click on my last 10 posts. If you have any more difficulty in navigating PM me and I'll give you some more tips ;)

Some positive news received from a recent convert (Duff_ZA):

Sorry man, As you can see from my following posts I've dropped the hostile attitude and have been contributing, I suppose I was just miffed at this forced posting straight off the bat! I'm actuallt enjoying it now so you've scored another convert... so I suppose your rule actually works[/b]

i dont understand what people are complaining about,
lurkers will always come with a forum which is natural but the games section which gives you a lot of information deserves something in return like contributing to a discussion, its hardly difficult.
i remember when i first joined that short time ago i was only going to post 5 times and leave it at that, but now i see more topics i want to add my point to, its so simple lol
