Chiefs to finish without Willis

Monday May 01 2006

Concussion rules hooker out

The Chiefs will almost certainly complete their remaining Super 14 fixtures - against the table-topping Waratahs and the Blues - without hooker Tom Willis, who was concussed in a high tackle during the team's 35-10 loss to the Hurricanes last Saturday.

Hurricanes flanker Chris Masoe struck Willis just two minutes into the game and was penalised for the tackle, but the All Blacks openside flank has escaped further punishment with no citing reported.

"I have got a very strong view on that tackle," Foster told the New Zealand media after the match.

Willis stayed on the field until the 30th minute, before going to the blood-bin and never re-emerging, Foster saying he was badly dazed and obviously concussed.

The Chiefs host the top-of-the-table Waratahs at Waikato Stadium this Saturday and then travel to Auckland to face the Blues the following week.

Foster said with the team's play-off prospects now nothing more than a remote mathematical possibility, it is all about pride in the last two rounds.

"It's a test of a team's character how they keep going and the levels they keep at," Foster said.

"And if there's a lot of internal pride in the performances, which I know our guys have, they will carry on.

"We haven't been beaten like this on the scoreboard this year and we certainly want to finish strong in this campaign whatever eventuates in the next two games."

discuss....

Same story, we've got the potential to do it but probably won't. I hope that Donald is not starting.

Whats wrong with Donald?

Tahs should be way too classy for the Chiefs, hopefully there is better weather this time.

Yeah, the weather is a key factor in a Tahs Bonus point.......... dry weather= Tahs by 20+ with a bp ..... wet weather= Tahs by 10-15 with probably no bp like last week.

Tah's will take this one with ease (the only thing that the Chiefs can hope for is a wet pitch). I hope on wrong cause I’d laugh my ***s off but don't think it's going to happen.

The Chiefs as far as I'm concerned lack the intelligence to bet the Tah's, plus they have that loser Kellerwanker... How anyone after the form that he has shown in the Super 14 thinks that he should where the Black jeresy should be, well they should be something... I blame Victor Matfield for not smacking him harder...

'Tahs should cream them, even in the wet...
and Kellerher while a ****** is still banging a porn star so I'm a bit worried about his ball service

This is one i really don't want to say but the TAHS will win this one with comfort i feel but its a shame

JJ got his wish..... Donalds on the bench

Dumbo wont be happy..... Kelleher is on the field.

Wooow, hold the fort... David Hill at 1st5... the return of the Jono... hey the Chiefs have 3 solid jumpers (OK not international level jumpers but jumpers all the same) in the forwards.

Mils is back in at fullback... Anthony Tahana?

If it wasn't for Kellawanker and Mark why didn't you **** off earlier Ranby i'd say that the Chiefs have an outside chance... in fact bugger it... Chiefs by 5!

It is a good team from the chiefs. David Hill should be their regular no. 10. I've never liked Donald that much.

Excellent loosies. Can't ask for much more than Bates, Holah and Gibbes. Power, Speed and leadership.

Great backthree as well. Sivi, Milsy, and Tahana. Speed, great-lines and funnyman.

Awesome try Rogers, NSW up 8-3 after 15min or so...

OMG Wendal has hair!!!!

EDIT - Tuitupou in, Chiefs 10-8

Half Time 20-16 Chiefs

Tahs have been to lazy in defence expect them to pull away in the second half.

20-16 to the Cheifs at half time. DAM! The Tahs look awfully lathargic tonight... They're playing **** and just making stupid decisions.

f***! Tahs' really need to get their act togeather after tonights performace.
The defence looked dissinterested at times in the match and what the hell happened to Hewat's kicking? That was almost as inconsistent as he was in the Crusaders match! It was just painful! 5 tries to 3 FFS and all they had to do was kick their bloody goals!
