Rugby 2005 to Use Fifa Engine

Electronic Arts has told Gameplanet its next Rugby ***le will be developed using internal resources at EA Canada including the Fifa game engine. The NZ Maori team will be involved in motion capture during their upcoming North American tour.

Rugby 2005 is due for release next March. HB Studios, developer of previous versions, will remain involved in development and management of the project. Issues of IP ownership at EA prevented the use of existing technology for previous games, but HB Studios told Gameplanet last year it was working toward an ownership status that would allow it access to EA's internal resources for future ***les.

HB Studios is also the developer of the EA Sports Cricket franchise[/b]

Interesting that they are using the NZ Maori team for motion capture, hopefully they can turn out a better game than last time, not that it would be hard

Hopefully EA can get it together and produce something competitive.
I imagine it will be quite a bit more of a simulation than WCR.
