[RWC2023] Wales vs Australia (24/09/2023)

Tompkins has poured cold water on all the people complaining about the premiership being ****,
He's carried his club form, and more, into international rugby
Interesting that he and Rowlands looked solid domestically but not exceptional. Giving players an extended run contributes to development, who knew

Gotta feel sorry for Dave Rennie being sacked to allow this Australian coaching set-up, but I'm sure he got a nice payout

I'd have previously said you can't sack a coach so close to a WC, maybe Gatland previous involvement put him ahead of the curve. Eddie has ripped the guts out of Australia, the way the decline of the game is going they needed to get out of their group and give their fan base something to build into the Lion's and their home world cup.

How does the seeding work for a home nation in a WC? Rankings wise they could end up in a Ireland/SA/Scotland type group.

Wales have a very good chance of getting to a WC semi final. Who'd have thought that a few months ago.

I think this is a sign of the future, evidence that the game is over in Australia, league is taking all the talent and interest

Really impressed how Gatland has turned around the ship after leaving coaching. I've always liked the look of Wales with a fit Anscombe and Liam at 15 (vs Biggar and Halfpenny). So much more variety and invention without seeming to lose much defensively.

They must be strong favourites to win their QF and if France or NZ somehow get to a semi I would give Wales half a chance against them.
