Summer tours - England

Barbeary hasn't played in weeks. Not sure on the status there.

McGuigan is a good choice although i've heard good things about Blamire.

Second Row looks tough as without Ribbans as not many experienced locks available.

Barbeary is difficult as he's had a lot of injuries so needs to be really fit.
Blamire is much bigger and far more aggressive and powerful than McGuigan, but McGuigan is an intelligent player, who really knows where to be at the right time etc.
Once Blamire picks up a little bit of that "intelligence" he'll be a cracker. We're also developing Scotlands next hooker aswell..young Robbie Smith. He's gonna be some player under Dean and Micky Wards guide.

The curious one for me is Barbaery...do they select him at hooker or back row...
He's not fit, so you don't pick him at all.
However, if he were fit and in form; for an A match, followed by USA and Canada - you pick him on the bench covering both.

10 minutes at hooker against the USA isn't going to make or break his career

5 Falcons....im really not sure about Trevor Davison being in there...hes played great for us, no doubt...but England development squad? Not sure.

Bassett?? great prem winger...but i wouldnt have picked him here.

Eh A game.
Having players like Wells and Davison for the A game isn't the worst idea.

Very nearly raged before remembering this is minus the top 4

Not happy at Bassett being there over Loader - as above, Bassett is great for Wasps but nothing really screams international quality (bar his strike rate, to be fair to him)
Not over the moon at Coka being involved either tbh

Guess Barbeary's injury is worse than previously thought

Good to see Kelly and Ojomoh involved

Very true Tigs, just didnt think Davison was even on the radar.

And curious no McGuigan whos on fire, yet they pick Blamire.

A lot of these players will be more to provide good training against.
Older prop might give the younger props a bit more in training etc.

I'd assume Davison is in because Tom West is unavailable?

After the play offs, I imagine Rodd or Hepburn will probably take his spot.

Not sure if Will Stuart is injured? He's surprisingly absent.

Is Tom Dunn paying the price for 2 red cards in quick succession?

Ollie Thorley a surprise omission too.

I'd imagine we see a fairly dramatic change between now and the 1st squad for USA/Canada.

You look at players such as Stuart, Thorley, etc - He doesn't need to look at them as he knows them inside out.

This squad has lots of players he's assessing before he brings in undoubtedly brings in players from top 4.

Not a bad set excluding the top 4 clubs. Certainly some of those names are "fillers" and will drop out when players form the top 4 are available again. Personally I want to see how Spencer does at 9 the most, even if it is a set of relatively low pressure games.
