Transfers 2013/14

So that makes four foreigners in the first choice Turk pack, how will that work?
Adriaanse, Snyman, Earle, Barclay.

Not much between Adriaanse and Lee atm, with Lee starting most big games lately (only didn't start against the Blues because of illness). I'd expect him to firmly move ahead of Adriaanse next season.

Bristol ins and out news.

Sean Holley in as new 1st Team Coach. News I am very happy to hear, next year could be a very exciting season. There are players leaving too, they are;

Wayne Thompson (151 competitive apps, 3 tries) - leaving to coach/teach at Hartpury College
George Biagi (4 competitive apps, 1 try)
Tom Channon (10 competitive apps)
Alafoti Faosiliva (8 competitive apps, 5 tries)
Jon Goodridge (39 competitive apps, 11 tries)
Matthew Jones (18 competitive apps)
David McIlwaine (8 competitive apps, 2 tries)
Tom Slater (26 competitive apps, 1 try)
Mike Tagicakibau (10 competitive apps, 1 try) - Back to Sarries
Matt Williams (19 competitive apps, 8 tries)
Jack Gadd (29 competitive apps, 3 tries) - Forced early retirement through injury, will coach Weston Hornets RFC, the club he (and me) started playing for as a kid.

Knoyle to Gloucester has been confirmed. Link

Dan Newton - Scarlets -> London Scottish. Link. Tidy player Newton, possibly deserved to stay in top flight. I would have preferred to see him stay at the Scarlets over Aled Thomas tbh.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Titterell back at Sale in some form (be it coaching or playing).
I imagine Croall will leave at the end of the season, leaving us with two hookers and one in the "Jets", so Titterell could well be offered a player/coach role (strength and conditioning coach, as that's what he does in his spare time) - he also owns/runs a gym in the Sale area.

Sad to see lutui go he has been my favourite warrior for some time... going to have to change my avatar now :(

Two cracking signings.
They're really emptying out London Irish, aren't they?

Compare the players they have brought in to those they have lost. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Irish#Transfers_2013-14)

Their signings aren't exactly going to frighten any teams and to be frank look pretty average to say the least. Whilst departing they have lost Joseph, Corbisiero, Gibson and some of their top prospects.

Are they having financial problems in Reading? With a year in the Championship looking to have done Newcastle some good and Worcester making some good signings in Creevy and Mieres, do you think London Irish may be struggling towards the bottom of the table next season? I think they may be, they were near the bottom this year, and their squad certainly hasn't been strengthened.

To be honest it's almost entirely attributable to Toby Booth being forced to leave...

It seems pretty obvious that a lot of young LI players feel quite a bit of loyalty to him, or at least are fans of his.

Also, Bath>Reading.

Irish have been getting a weakening squad for a few years now. Look at their notable in/outs over the last couple of years:
2011/12: Spratt, Ansbro, Shingler, Hape in. Steffon Armitage, Stowers, Mapusua, Dan Murphy and Lamb out.
2012/13: Aulika, Geraghty, Humphreys, Scott Lawson, Skivington in. Delon and Guy Armitage, Bowden, Kennedy, Thompstone, Thorpe, Shingler, Spratt out.

Their weakening squad is also having a bad effect on their league position. 3rd in 08/09, 6th in 09/10 and 10/11, 7th in 11/12, currently 9th in 12/13 (their last game is vs. Leicester - they'll probably lose and could drop as far as 11th).

They produce so much talent, and hold on to very little of it. Already lost Joseph, Corbs, Gibson, Garvey, Watson, Sisi and Moates (even losing players straight out of the academy!), Shingler, Gray this season. Meanwhile, I don't think any of their signings are particularly inspired.
