Transfers Rumours

They were both targeted by English clubs, both wanted a move elsewhere.
Farrell had his eyes in the Ireland job because he knew he wasn't getting the England one until EJ was gone, Lancaster wanted a fresh start elsewhere - he turned down jobs with prem and champ clubs to work grassroots before deciding to move abroad.

Your narrative is way off.

The IRFU identified both Lancaster and Farrell had talent and had the luxury of having a fair idea of what their weaknesses were and the opportunity to interview them on them. It's not a case of if England had have kept them they'd have experienced the success we have, the environment had collapsed.

It's certainly looks better on the RFU that their coaches continued their careers successfully, Schmidt's predecessors were last seen in a promotion fight with by far the most well equipped championship team and not cutting it in Ireland's amateur rugby leagues second division. And last time we went out in the group stages our coach had a nice 2 year contract to sit on....

The IRFU have got their act together but this isn't some massive show of superiority, its luck more than anything.

If that the case fair enough. Wasn't aware both had plenty of options. Just picking up on bits they've mentioned in interviews in past. I know Farrell wanted to be Head Coach but realistically that only became a reality in past 12 months. Like even now some would suggeat he is the wrong move due to lack of experience as a HC.

Farrell was offered the Sarries gig but turned it down because he has his sights set on International rugby and knew it wouldn't lead to the England job, believe he was also offered the Quins job.
Lancaster was offered numerous (think Sale, Leeds, Quins, Worcester and Saints all went for him) but he wanted to move abroad, as he's no love for the English press.

Well in that case I will alter my view. I thought the way Lancaster was talking he was kind of tarnished a bit in UK and felt nobody would touch him at a decent level. Like Eddie O'Sullivan here in Ireland.
Farrell I can get. He has made his way with Lions and just presumed he was viewed over there like a Roy Keane type figure. A hard demanding man who takes no crap and that doesn't sit well with some.

Fcking beta's amirtie thinking they can lift on us alpha's, bet he doesn't even deadlift.

Comparing Stuart Lancaster to Eddie O'Sullivan is very unfair on Lancaster!

I wonder if Lancaster would be wasted in an international role where he's not upskilling players daily. That's where he's excelled with Leinster.

IRFU suits Lancaster's skill set way way way more than RFUs did.
He's a proper grassroots guy who builds from the ground up, the IRFUs control over the region's/players suits him far better than the England players parachuting in for a weekend every now and then during the season

Not comparing his coaching more the reputation. Like noone in IRFU will touch Eddie. And that filtered to most clubs in Europe.

Well that was more my point too like he excels in the academy or development roles. Had great success with England in a role lioe that. Even the Saxons he managed them very well years ago

Not really a Union rumour.
But Shaun Johnson now officially released, would be cool to see him have a go at Union.

In bigger Union rumours Clermont are after Tuivasa-Sheck now that is a player I want 10000% in union, at 24 a couple years in France learning the game at a pro level and making bank then move to Super rugby for 2 years to try and establish himself with the AB's.

Far from my first choice but I suppose he is a decent enough coach on a technical level, something the Tigers coaching team is really lacking outside of Stanko. The defence in particular can only benefit from him being around.

Apart from that, however, he seems to be a **** poor man manager who could easily destroy the atmosphere around an already struggling squad. I just hope when he inevitably weasels his way into someone else's position that it's Glynn who gets forced out and not Murphy.

Also, it's bad enough when a coach has 1 son in the team, having 2 is a recipe for disaster. Especially when one of those sons is already getting a lot of hate from the fans for being a bit ****. Edit: Speaking of the **** son, I really can't see how Tigers can keep Hardwick now, it was already looking bad enough...
