I mean a lot of free agents about, might not be more than decent prem quality but still plenty of Prem and Champ lads who are without a contract
Would imagine Dimes would prob look at Eastern European and some SH lads who are playing in the Currie cup/NPC

We've gone down the champ route for years as it was all we cold afford and that hasnt worked. A few good champ players in a squad of good prem players might be different of course.

We have a squad there training at the moment, with a light smattering of quality - Gordon, Nield, Arnold, Lockwood etc. But we definitely need to sign almost a new squad.

It'll be a measured / gradual approach i would think. Theyre not just going to pump a ton of money in immediately. They'll look at the whole picture, and i know Diamond wanted to over haul the academy aswell.

To be fair, it doesn’t feel like the academy is much of an issue. Pepper, Brantingham, Johnson, Redshaw etc. are recent examples but Radwan, Blamire and Chick were all home grown too IIRC?

Yeah i didnt think it was either, but in a recent interview said he felt it was still working below what he expected. I bow to his experience so thought he must think it can be even more productive.

Nah I get what he means the academy volume has dropped off for Newcastle

Theoretically we've also got LeRoux Roets but he's not been seen since last year, and only played about 35mins of prem rugby. He's also not in any of the pre-season shots, so I don't know if he's even still here

Hhmmm thats not great is it, although better than our situation.

I think Burrows could be a top player but surely hes not ready for regular prem yet...or does Sanders think he is?

I'd say he'd do better going out on loan, maybe to Caldy, and getting regular game time there while also playing in the prem cup games, but with our depth that's probably not an option as he'll have to be available as travelling reserve in case of cramp in warmups to anyone in the 23 or whatever

Sanderson claims that recruitment is done, I'm holding out hope that he means the signings are done but not announced rather than everything is full done, but I dunno

Looks like they're going to start releasing info soon. Theyve confirmed players have signed new contracts, some new players already signed and they're in negotiations with other players at advanced stages.

If that comes off id be VERY happy. Clarke, Gordon, Nield, Lockwood, Arnold, Hearle plus whoever Diamond is bringing in, and suddenly you have the core of a physical mobile team with a bit of bite.

Seemingly one of Freddie Clarkes best pals is posting stuff on the Shedweb forum. According to that Freddie has signed for us. Be a good signing if thats legit. His pal has also said we have signed around 10 new players.
