I really can't see Borlase ever wearing an Irish jersey. by 3 years time our under 20s will be coming through and they are really impressive in the scum and lineout.
D'arcy will ruin his career going to the Os. He isn't on form while most of the Osprey backs are. He has still got a strong place in leinster and the partnership between him and BOD is always Leinsters first option.
 
IRFU's offer to D'arcy contained a significant enough paycut and they are hoping he will stay so he can cash in on the tax rebate, which is where the Ospreys rumour came from. Marcus Horan and Peter Stringer have also lost central contracts I understand, in general IRFU cutbacks.

Cymro, excellent call on Tim Ryan, would have loved him back, although taking a long term look at things he will develop much faster at Toulon, who are paying more than the IRFU or an Irish province would want to. Would love to see him and his brother Dave starting for Munster in a few years like the Franks brothers for the Crusaders and New Zealand :)
 
Ulster are trying to get David Lyons to breach his contract with the Scarlets. They view him as a replacement for Xavier Rush who they're ****** off with because he's breached his contract with Ulster!
 
Lyons from the Scarlets would be a bigger loss than Rush from the Blues. The Scralets would lose all direction without him. Everything would solely rest on the shoulders of Stephen Jones- Too much pressure for one man.

That prop he absolutely demolishes in the first scrum is 6'4 130kg All Black capped prop Jamie Mackintosh.
 
According to reports here in SA, Ulster are set to announce the signing of Bulls regular flank Pedrie Wanneberg

Apparently Lyon have announced to some paper in France that they've signed Lee Thomas (from Sale) on a two year deal.
If true then that is poo. Though he's injured quite a lot, he's a very valuable player.
Though i've also read he's still got a year left on his contract to Sale, so who knows.

Darren Allison to London Irish
Robin Sowden-Talyor - to be released
Ben White - to be released
Rhys Williams (Hooker) - to be released

I think Mike Brewer will do a decent job at Sale but he's playing a dangerous game getting rid of so many 1st team players. It may have been wiser to add to the squad before trimming players from the roster.

That interesting about Sowden-Taylor as I always rated him as a decent squad player

Hes a former youth superstar who had his development stunted by a broken neck and had to slowly ease back into the game. He was only just coming into his own this year in my opinion, he had a great super 14 and probably deserved an All Black spot this year. So yes, hes pretty good, still relatively young and too so he will turn up at Toulon with enthusiasm to win some trophys. Hes definitely not a Rico Gear type who just shows up for the paycheck. Its a good buy from Toulon (for once.)

Scott Morgan - not good enough quality for the Blues.
Darren Allinson - good player, must see Lloyd Williams as a better prospect.
Robin-Sowden Taylor - now behind both Martyn and Warberton.
Ben White - Not good enough!
Rhys Williams - very surprised. Got a couple of games this season and looked good. Showing up well at the U20's w/c too. Good youngster that's hopefully not gonna be lost from the Welsh game!

Apparently a lot of players, when they signed, had a thing in their contract which basically said they get an exta X ammount of money each year, regardless of performance, which means they've had to release players they didn't necessarily want to to stay under the wage cap.

Bit of a long post, but i read this on a Sale forum, makes for worrying reading from a fans point of view:

“My personal belief is that I need to bring in a minimum of six players. And depending on my discussion with some players they will be two props, a loosehead and a tighthead, one second row, an openside flanker, a centre and full back/winger.

Some of the rumours were more hopes than rumours (Tim Ryan and Ignlis (Inglis said in an interview that a lot of Euro union clubs had been contacting him, including Sale, but he wasn't interested))

That's a helluva lot gone, with only one confirmed signing
 
They're the next big spenders in French rugby. They're only in the second division, but they've already got a massive team (someone posted the numbers, but it was about 6 players for each position) and are signing everyone going
