USA news & politics

Im confused, why dont you want to comment on the rise of anti immigration sentiment in Mexico?

They want the poor to stop arriving from the south, they bring drugs, crime and disorder, and they want the Americans to stop arriving from the north, they bring money and gentrification, and change Mexican culture.

their own president is labelling these protests 'xenophobic' so why isn't there any appetite to discuss this here?

Do you think Mexicans in the north view it as gentrification?

When I visited Antalya last year most Turks I spoke with were well hacked off with the amount of rich Russians who had moved there since the war started. All they did was push up property/ rental prices and prices in general and force the locals into the poorer areas.

Same in this country with Londoners moving (especially 2nd homing) to the country, taking all the housing stock, and then complaining about bird song, muddy roads and the smell of farming

Bonus points for also buying a main residence in London and trying to get the local nightspots closed down

A] I don't want to have conversation with YOU.
B] I'm not seeing anti-immigration sentiment in Mexico so much as anti-American sentiment - in which case, you reap what you sew
C] I'm allowed to have the conversations I'm interested in, and not obliged to have the conversations you want to distract me into because of your refusal to address anyone else's point.

Any comment to make on the xenophobia of "Mexicans are bad for wanting to live in America and create a better life for themselves?"
Or just more moving of goal posts and trolling?

Or moving next door to a rugby club, and complaining that the rugby club play rugby there.
Or moving next door to a school and complaining about the noise of children and the traffic at pick-up and drop-off time.
Or (en masse) buying all the housing stock in a village for air B&B, and then complaining that there's no villagers to open a shop and do your cleaning for you

Yes. They are making that claim not me.

(Ive got the english articel for those non Spanish speakers)

I mean their protests seem to be pretty nationalist. Signs and chants demanding immigrants speak Spanish, telling them to go home, and even graffiti saying 'kill the gringo'

I keep seeing it referred to in American press as 'protests against tourism' but that's a manipulation of what ive seen of the violence and looting.

What would you call it?

We get a lot of that in my village

Most annoying thing at the moment is people who have moved into new builds and then are campaigning like hell on social media to stop the next phase of new builds being built, and not seeing the irony
God forbid anyone else have somewhere to live - imagine if the old part of the village had stopped THEIR house being built

A) if you didnt you wouldnt have compiled a whole list ffs
B) its great your not paying attention, but there is very much an anti immigration rise in Mexico, due to central American immigration into Mexico from south.
C) noone claimed you couldn't do anything, stop playing victim.

Finally, the 'Xenophobia' comments arent from me, they're from the Mexico president relating to the xenophobic chants and messaging from the protests.

But dont engage, that's fine, go enjoy the sun

It's the people complaining to the council about the dawn chorus that I will never understand - but all of those things are annoying as hell; and just shows that they've moved to somewhere they shouldn't have.

Are you guys in line with the ideal, that non local cultures movement into a culture they dont understand, and trying to change that culture, should assimilate to that culture?!

Treaties signed with the US mean nothing
FTFY - he's proven that, even beyond his own wild impetuosity, any treaty or agreement signed with the US can simply be undone by the next president on a whim.
Until the US rebuilds and strengthens its system of checks and balances, they are simply not a reliable partner in anything at all.
FTR, the UK isn't all that much better, we just haven't proven it yet

Ex department of justice lawyer has said they were fired for refusing to lie in court about the Garcia deportation.

But totally normal and ethical behaviour, I'm sure they just have an axe to grind and in bi way is this part of a trend if multiple justice department officials resigning over the administration demanding unethical or illegal acts...
