USA news & politics

I would say there is good reason to look at the most recent and extreme examples of mass slavery and all that came with it, especially if the context of the conversation revolves around black Americans like it was with the Beyoncé example.

If you want, but this Sweeney ad isnt anything to do with Beyoncé really, its argument relies around eugenics, which has been an informal thought for the entire of humanity save the last 70 years or so, well at least in the west. If you look at Qatars world cup hosting, im sure the same was considered, and when you consider the slavery in the UK currently, im sure there are similar attitudes.

My point is, people talk slavery like it is a black only crime, its not, its always and continues to be an entire world population crime, its just popular to discuss because it influences a voter base in the USA IMO (clumsily said but you know what i mean).

It veered off onto Beyonce as @Saintjay made a good point about how there wouldn't be any talk of this advert at all (well not from the left -but as has been covered there's not much of it about anyway) if it had been Beyoncé and someone saying she's got good Jeans/Genes. That led me to make my post about how that would be slightly different given the recent(ish) history.

Let's be honest, Beyoncé has great genes!

South Korea Reaches Trade Deal With Trump

South Korea says it has no written pact on US trade deal

Trade deal with South Korea (or not)

And this idea that various countries including the EU are going to send multi billions to be controlled and invested by the orange-utan is utterly laughable.

Who do you believe?

Trump hits India with 25% extra tariffs for buying Russian oil.

I am always dubious over motifs but not going to disagree on this one.
Aren't India claiming that the USA originally encouraged them to buy Russian oil to stop a global price spike? Don't know if it's just bullshit or not (sounds it) but it would be pretty awkward if the USA tells a country to do something only to punish them for it later.

Got to think that Putin's meeting with Airmiles Witkoff didn't go too well
.
The Russians have been playing Witkoff and Trump for the start. To get a cease fire you have to have 2 (or even 3) sides that want to stop. Russia is in the middle of it's summer offensive and has committed vast resources to it. Best thing to do is supply Ukraine with the means to not just stop it but counter attack afterwards. Then the Russians might (only might) think of coming in on peace talks.

That would probably be true. The Biden administration did a number of things to stop sanctions hit US inflation including asking the Ukrainians to stop hitting Russian oil refineries.

For those interested in the shenanigans involving Alina Habba and the Trump DoJ (assuming you can stomach the presentation style of course).

What a misogynist, attacking Habba for being a woman, and claiming she did 'arguably' illegal things to make a name for herself by defending a woman from harassment...

When he made the claim that 'what sounds bad to ethics committees, is music to Donald trumps ears' i turned off, as this guy is too biased to be listened to by anyone who thinks critically. It might as well be TYT, or Meidas touch.

Literally nothing you wrote there is from the video. Again, do you live in an alternative reality?
1) Nobody attacked Habba for being a woman
2) She didn't defend a woman from harassment, she sabotaged a woman's legal defence to assist Trump (you know, the sort of thing that can get you disbarred)
3) She was reprimanded by judges multiple times for her actions defending Trump.
4) You aren't thinking critically at all.

For once, stop being a contrarian ****. As usual you simply switch off rather than address any of the content (and what content you think you are addressing you have literally made up, it's nowhere in the video).

Somehow you think the above is Habba defending a woman from harassment!? You're ******* insane.

If Habba was defending her, why did she have to settle? Why was the victim tricked into signing an NDA when it's illegal to do so in the state?
