Welsh Rugby Stuff

Oh our pipeline is broken at most positions to be fair hahaha
You can make a case it is but I disagree with you that back 3 is that bad. We've got plenty of talent coming through there. Same for back row. We're not even that bad for locks and centers look good to. It's the front row that's the problem, and has been for a long time, especially tight head.

I mean, could you name a country with a weaker back 3 than us, I'm down the list struggling. I'd certainly take any 6N back 3 combo over ours. Like I said, Georgia and Portugal I'd also swap out for ours. There is potential there, but it's so small. Bowen and Murray could be really good, but they both lack power at pro level. Mee has potential. Grady and Llewellyn have both played plenty of wing but have huge flaws there. Winnett is technically superb, but I worry for his future at every contact, and his ball retention rate is the lowest of any other URC FB by a mile. (I'm not including Hamer Webb BTW, because he's not welsh, and he is a bad rugby player (brain wise) , he's just had a lot of gametime from desperation, and is athletic)

Locks again, some ok players but look lightweight at u20 level, and none of our pro locks are excelling in Wales. Welsh set peice for club and country is an embarrassment, and I think it's down mainly to lack of power and grunt.

We always tend to bread some decent back rows, But look at the incoming and just broken through players, lacking in power. Mann, Morgan, Martin, Basham, Botham, (OK I'm playing fast and loose with incoming lol, but you know what I mean, intros since excellence was defunded).

I am hoping a few kick on this coming season, Hawkins could be an important player if he gets on track, Grady has to have a monster season or he will follow his brothers career path, Llewellyn needs to up his game, Roberts, Eddie James and Page all need to improve, this far they've shown glimpses but not hammered it home.

Maybe I'm too depressed to view the positives, I'll come back in August when I'm more optimistic hahaha

Option to maybe follow the Netball system and go to 1 pro team, playing in a British and Irish League.
The saved money could be put into a development system, with geographically based clubs being subsidised to run academies.
I think he's being a bit harsh on the WRU there. The whole of the UK seems to be in a state of managed decline and Rugby is no different. The money just isn't there nor is it magically going to turn up. I'm thinking 2 pro 2 feeders would be good for now, but who knows. Really depends where or what the financial situation really can support.

I like Roger's Mee and Murray but they're all on the inexperienced side. I know you don't like Winnert but I do. I'm surprised you rate Bowen given his size but I like him a lot. Got a bit of Shane about him but with a bit more dog. What's happened to Dyer apart from having to play for the Dragons? I like Giles too but needs to stay fit, hope he has a good tour.

I don't dislike Winnet, he's a quality little player, technically superb, but he has 3 major flaws, he's small, underpowered AND he isn't very quick or agile. He has a bit of Matthew Morgan about him.

Bowen is different for me, he has gas agility and dog, and I think his ceiling is much higher as a winger.

Whonknows what happened to Dyer, he was a long term project, went from useless rugby brain but athletic to a very competent international winger. Similar to Bevan he just doesn't seem fancied any more

Yeah, that is a pretty fair assessment of Winnet I can't lie. I would maybe disagree that he isn't agile, he's got lovely feet but I know what you mean. I think he's quick over 5 meters but if you're going to be undersized then you need to be like Liam Williams and have unbelievable amount of heart. This is why I love Rogers but then like Williams he has that height that Winnet doesn't have.

I wrote Roger's off a few years ago, bitnlast 18 months he's taken a huge step forward, I'm disappointed he didn't play FB for Wales over Murray, he was going well at 15 for Scarlets. Shame about the injury.

So... not sure how many Cardiff RFC season ticket holders are here, maybe @Bluemoon

Butni just received an email, after i didn't renew the 13 season tickets I buy every year (adult and junior combined) stating that they would extend the early bird discount to next week if I'm interested.

I replied saying that I wasn't interested, and that my group just didn't find the season ticket value for money, and that Cardiff RFC doesn't treat season ticket holders with any recverence...

The response was, that they could offer a 25% discount on last years prices!

I'm still in shock. It will probably work, and we will renew, but I'm stunned by the desperation, and hope I'm wrong in thinking ticket sales have plummeted!

It's like your sky sports contract coming to an end and you ring them to cancel and they say "oh alright then have half off".

I get it, but this has never happened before, it's been around 9 years we've been holders, started with 4 of us, then added kids etc...

This just seems super desperate, the guys around us have never shared similar stories, and we all enjoy slating Cardiff RFC lol

Or there charging well over the odds and can take the hit on 25%
