@Yulia l, thought I’d respond to you on here. To be fair, I think I’ve only ever watched one Russian TV series and I actually quite liked it. Was a solid 7 (maybe 7.5)

Can’t remember the Russian name but it was about a pandemic (just before Covid so very suspicious*) but I think it was called To the Lake.

Send me some of your top recommendations and what the genre is and if I can find it (and as long as it has English subtitles) I’ll try and watch one.

*joke

These series called Эпидемия/Epidemia in Russian, which is..Epidemic))) (weird that they translated the name to English as To the Lake)
Yes, I watched it as well,a couple of years after Covid, but I remember it became pretty popular due to hype on different theories that the series makers knew about Covid in advance :D I understand why suspicious, it came out just a couple of months before Covid and they "predicted" a lot of things (such as lockdowns and epidemic symptoms).
First season was ok,but the second one (which they didn't translate to English I think) was way worse and contained a lot of stupid side stories as far as I remember. I'm not sure whether it was in the first season or second one,but they mentioned that "virus" in series also had roots in China :D

Sure, I'll make a list with descriptions this weekend cause it will be a long one and I have no time to write it right now

Euphoria S3 is bad

Most of it is about on par/a bit worse than S2 (which is a step down from S1) but then the finale was terrible

Feels like S3 was just a mistake to make anyway - too long in between S2 and S3, the actors had grown (in their careers) too much
Apparently Elordi didn't want to be in it at all but was contractually obligated so they filmed all of his scenes in one block and he's barely in it with anyone else
Hunter Schafer rumoured to have had a falling out with the show runner and her character was reduced from only behind Zendaya as a main character in S1 to being completely irrelevant in S3 and not even having a single line in the finale

That’s nothing compared to where it goes. I don’t consider myself to be particularly squeamish but there were a couple of bits that I had to skip past in some of the later episodes.
The autopsy?
I might be a bit desensitised to that because of the dissections I did as part of my uni course - the closeup on a jizzing dog dick was worse!

Bit of a mixed bag of a season - overall I enjoyed it though. I expected more of it to be about inheritance tax but that was all contained to basically one episode.

Maybe Clarkson needs to knock the farming on the head though - feels like every season is "worst rain in recorded history" "worst drought in recorded" - the guy is cursed!
Looking forward to the next season

Watching For All Mankind - started off brilliantly, if a little too soppy for ,y tastes - descended a bit for Season2, and fell off a cliff.
I've reached the end of Season4 now, with gravity being turned randomly on and off depending purely on... well, not even convenience; and I think I've had enough.

Is it worth giving Season 5 a go? Or am I better off calling it quits already.

Watched all of Widow’s Bay over the weekend and it’s awesome; comfortably the best show of the year so far for me.

Feel like with Apple TV having Widow’s Bay, Severance, Shrinking, etc. combined with HBO churning out some proper garbage the last couple of years, Apple TV have overtaken HBO as the premium streaming service.

Just had a bash and watched season 1 of outlast...

Christ it was a dark insight into humanity, difficult watch, difficult to understand the producers and crews thought process, and even felt bad for the psychotic few in the end also, having to delete your internet footprint must be hard mentaly

Watching Hidden Assets. Seems to have gone under the radar but it's ok. S1 and S2 are about a collaboration between Irish and Belgian police, S3 seems to move to Irish and Spanish.

Been rewatching The Wire for the first time (watched it one time before about a decade ago, so long enough ago that I remember the vague storylines but none of the specifics and it feels new again)

Such fantastic TV - also #JusticeForSeasonTwo, everyone hates it but I remember loving it the first time round and I just finished it last night and it was still great

Yeah S2 is great. None of them are bad though. My only criticism of the entire 5 series run is that there are virtually no characters you can/should like, everyone is an evil motherfucker.

People that hate on season 2 should be put into re-education camps.

Except Omar.

Really? There’s loads of likeable characters. I agree most are like real people so good and bad mixed in but Bunny, Bubs, Cutty and Wallace just to name a few. I loved Dee as well. Shout out to Bodie too

Widow’s Bay is good? I'll try it this weekend then. You're right. I find myself watching more SciFi shows in Apple TV than HBO.

I’m re-watching Gomorrah. Cracking Italian TV series. It’s the Italian Wire. Naturally it’s not as good but it’s well worth a watch if you fancy some gritty street ****. In this case Mafia **** coz, you know, Italians.

Is that still Sky only? I watched the first episode at my Ma's last Christmas and it was great
I watched it on HBO Max

Think I'm paying £6 a month for it, trying to get through as much of their catalogue in as short amount of time as I can, then I'll cancel it (paid £12 so far and have ticked off Euphoria, IT and almost all of a The Wire rewatch so far, good value for money)
