McAlister is never better than Giteau.

Yet, you are the one who reckons Henson is better than McAlister?
"Reckons" is not the right word there, my friend.

And your basing it on what exactly? Henson bothering to show up for the first time in 2 years against the ****-tacular opposition in the 6 Nations

In comparison to Luke McAlister who's barely done anything for Sale this year?
Yes.
I mean, Luke isn't even up there as one of the best centres in the NH right now. Henson however...

I have a lot but here is three:

Carlos Spencer - Creative, quick, consistent. Quite simply a fantastic player.

Bruce Reihana - Fantastic leader, Fantastic team player, and just yet again, simply fantastic.

Martin Johnson - Amazing in his time. That's all that needs to be said. :)

Yeah, because we all know McAlister is up there for reasons other than just to collect his (guranteed) pay cheque for 2 years before coming back to the real stuff.

Henson on the other hand is/was preety much fighting for his career - I would kind of expect him to be motivated more than McAlister. Of course, if Henson hadn't spent the last two years behaving like an 14 year old girl, we could've seen him get given the Jauzion treatment rather than his 5 minute cameo in 2006.

Make all the excuses you want but if McAlister was the player you say he is he would have set himself up for an easy drop goal against france and won the game rather than "doing a number" on jauzion in the game only to try a dop goal back at the half way line. And, by god, he would actually be making a mark on the guinness premiership (you know, that league you so happily look down your nose upon as being inferior) rather than acting as a seat filler.

You're both wrong. McAlister has put in some ****-hot performances in an otherwise under-acheving Sale side while Henson has stopped acting like a spoiled brat over the last 6 months and looks like a top drawer centre.

Now stop bickering like a pair of school girls then kiss and make up.

Webby will hold the video camera! ;)

Chabal :P

No, he's not the best player ever, he has his specific qualities, but he's not superman.

What he is, is a great advertisement for the game. All of my non-rugby friends who've heard of Chabal think he's great. A giant who looks like a caveman, with more muscles than god, a tiny french wife and a love for the game of chess. You just don't get that kind of people in other sports. Some of my friends watched some of the rugby of this world cup after they had read an article on him in the newspaper. Good stuff, that alone makes him my favourite players.

A notable other would be indeed any member of the anonymous monster we call the "pack", often outshone by those hot-shot backs. Parisse is definate favourite in this category.

Nick Evans is a joy to watch, as is Jerry Collins and Chris Latham. I think it's more the fact that I watch Dan Carter and McCaw every week that I've become accustomed to their superior play and just take it for granted.

All Time favourite player has to be Andrew Merhtens or Christian Cullen. Both were my favourites for drastically different reasons. Who remembers when Merhts said kicking that florescent yellow Adidas ball was like kicking a dead pig, right after they signed that huge multi-milion dollar deal with Adidas.

You obviously havent watched Sale at all this season. McAlistar has been awesome most of the time and has been getting rave reviews. When Henson has the all round game of Luke Mac then you can say hes as good. Until then he's just a solid player.

Francois Steyn ... he is so versatile and strong. From flyhalf to centre to kicking 60 metre goals ... this guys is a machine and will be a legend of the game sooner rather than later.

Obviously...

You're an all-out Henson fan and you're arguing with a bunch of Kiwi's about whether he is better than Mcalister.
This is the most biased arguement ever.
On current form, I can't see much between the two. Mcalister has been one of Sale's star performers this season whereas Henson was outstanding during the Six Nations; no.12 of the tournament by far. Until I see Mcalister ram through Henson or Henson up-end Mcalister in a face-off, I'd say there's nothing between them.
