It will be any one of:

South Africa
Australia
New Zealand
England
France

all of whom are perennial contenders, and

Argentina

who have a good side, some good young players but it will depend on the next 4 years...

Sorry Wales, you can only ever play well in the 6 Nations and even then only against England and any teams you face after that fixture.

Sorry Ireland, your golden generation's over the hill and it flopped when in its prime.

I shouldn't have to make excuses for anyone else.

._. If you can't see this Welsh squad acheiving more with the current set-up then I don't see how you can think England will do well in the 2011 WC, based on their form at the moment.

Everything depends on the next four years!

France and England have not shown form that puts them in the frame. Wales have, but we'll know more after the summer.

Ireland are going to be interesting - the players haven't gone away, you know. :ar15firing5de: But we'll probably get stuck with Arg again.

What if we play England first in the World Cup? :P Championsss!!!

Possible but that doesn't happen since British teams aren't drawn together.

Sir Speedy, if there was a world cup directly after the 6 nations, Wales would have my money to do better than England. As it is, it's 4 years away, and Wales being good enough to beat 1) an England team who gifted them the match, 2) Scotland, 3) Italy, 4) a declining and very poor Ireland and 5) an experimental France says nothing about how they will do against serious teams from the Southern Hemisphere. To win world cups you must beat Tri nations teams. And maybe you'll tell me Wales have beaten one of them in the last 10 years but I wouldn't be surprised if they hadn't... as for England's chances we finally seem to actually have a head coach who is a head coach and not just a specialist coach in the wrong job; we have talented young players pouring out of our ears and I expect us to be up to top class international level by next year's 6 Nations.

I think it is a guess as teams change a lot in four years. I mean Wales might actually win it, you just don't know. Of course, through the unknown I still hope the AB's win!!

I'm sure... Italy Champion of the world...

Maybe in 3011.... :cryy: :cryy: :cryy:

Seriously,it's impossible to predict, but I think it colud be goog for New Zealand...

At long long long long last...

<div class='quotemain'> With Habanna.... South Africa have a good chance. After the tri nations we'll see how the new SA coach perform. If it not too good, we'll probably get a new one :P [/b]
Isn't Jake White still available?
[/b][/quote]

Contract wasnt renewed. They basically didn't like the slow progress with the transformation. New coach now is Peter De Villiers (Brown)

Remember, we here in SA have to play against 15 players + transformation (+bad refs :P). No one will want to be a quota player... The black players dont want to play rugby.. thats why most of the players are white/brown... Most of them play soccer and the soccer team have, last when I checked, 1white guy in it. But guess quotas doesnt apply both ways or if the team is already struggling.

(Sorry mods.. I accidently used the report button.. thought it was a reply button :P.. so used to our forum @ skinconsortium)

Fair enough, I won't get into a rant otherwise I'll end up annoying someone. I'll just concede to your undoubted knowledge that Wales fluked a Grand Slam after finishing the World Cup in their pool and have no right to consider themselves contenders for 2011.

while i doubt ireland will be in the running i dont think we have seen the last of the team. remember darcy drico o'connell flannery nd redden will all be there for 2011 with players like heaslip kearney buckley fitzgerald jenning sexton and co. stepping up over the next few years

i'll say they have a right when they beat southern hemisphere teams. Who knows, they're confident, have some useful players and an excellent coaching staff, maybe they can... but at the moment no.

If there's one team from Northern Hemisphere I want to see win the WC, it's Ireland.
Eventhough they robbed us in that test match in 2004, they've been my favourite NH team for awhile.

One thing is for certain, England must never win a WC again. They got too big headed

Bugger that, the only NH teams I'd be gunning for are Italy (underdogs, never really appreciated) and Scotland (because of my ancestry). The others, pfft.

We will win though, for sure.

Fair enough, when we accumulate a century of points over South Africa in the Summer Tests, get back to me please. :bleh!:

It's just a matter of being consistent across the board. You may play well up there in your own competitions, but you then must carry over the form which makes all you Welshmen so proud about to the SH tours. It's all very well saying you won a grandslam and looked the better team by miles, but how many times have you followed those performances up with strong SH tours?

Better yet, how many times have you taught the SH teams how to play the game up North and given us a lesson? That's the problem, you need to win games outside your own domestic competitions (6 nations) more frequently against ALL nations, not playing for games bearing a label such as "for the first time in 50 years".

Until then, I just cannot consider Wales to be a serious contender, all "arrogance" aside.

Yes I realise that, I'm not completely arrogant like you seem to be suggesting. If you think about it this way, Wales at th World Cup finished in the pool stages after being knocked out by a once "lesser-nation", Fiji, the coach is sacked, a new coaching team is set up, and these players who had been mocked for ages under the Gareth Jenkins regime finally showed some of their potential in an extremely successful Six Nations. Really, who on this board, except the extremely optimistic, would have thought Wales contenders for even 2nd place after the World Cup?
I see extreme amounts of progress being made, to only concede two tries in the Six Nations, regardless of how "****" the opposition were is an achievement by itself and while we may not be good enough yet to go to the Southern Hemisphere and beat one of your teams down there, I think we'll get there in a year or two (We would've beaten Australia last year if it wasn't for ample amounts of luck towards then in the dying minutes, so we could even "fluke" a win over a SH team during the four-year wait 'til the next WC.

New Zealand is going to win and im gonna sniper that mofo Wayne Barnes. Are people actually thinking that wales will make the WC final? Pffft whatever!!!!

The Wales vs RSA mid year tests will point out how good they are. Personaly I think its gonna be 30+pointer for SA.

We still have the base of the Worldcup team and the Stormers have a few new players thats really playing briliant rugby. I just cant see them winning with SA having wings like Habana & Chavanga (probably the 2 fastest wings in worldrugby). O,, and dont forget we have Pierre Spies back.. he should have played in the WC07 but had life threating injury.
Atm in the Super14 we also have 2 teams in the top 4 and the bulls looks like they can get back some dignity after a very poor run so far.
