psychic duck asked me for my all time Stormers XV, so here it is:

1.Robbie Kempson
2.Schalk Brits/Tiaan Liebenberg
3.Cobus Visagie
4.Selborne Boome
5.Andries Bekker
6.Corné Krige
7.Schalk Burger
8.Bobby Skinstad/Joe van Niekerk

Gheez I can select 2 great, quality backlines - both backlines contain 7 Springboks!^_^...1st is the "oldish" one:

9.Neil de Kock
10.Braam van Straaten/Gaffie du Toit
11.Pieter Rossouw
12.De Wet Barry
13.Robbie Fleck/Marius Joubert
14.Breyton Paulse
15.Percy Montgomery/Werner Greeff

Newish backline:

9.Bolla Conradie(when he was at his best)/Dewaldt Duvenage(he isn't a Bok yet)
10.Peter Grant
11.Bryan Habana
12.Jean de Villiers
13.Jaque Fourie
14.Gio Aplon/Tonderai Chavhanga
15.Brent Russell/Conrad Jantjes

Just too many players to choose from to settle on one player per position in some cases...

Kempson? That fat, lazy, arrogant sack of **** would be considered one of the best stormers?

LOL well I can't think of other loosehead props that played for the Stormers that were/are Springboks...

EDIT:CJ van der Linde is yet to prove himself at the Stormers

9.Neil de Kock/Bolla Conradie
10.Braam van Straaten/Gaffie du Toit/Peter Grant
11.Pieter Rossouw/Bryan Habana
12.De Wet Barry/Jean de Villiers
13.Robbie Fleck/Marius Joubert/Jaque Fourie
14.Breyton Paulse/Gio Aplon/Tonderai Chavhanga
15.Percy Montgomery/Werner Greeff/Brent Russell/Conrad Jantjes

the forwards pretty much pick themselves for the Stormers

other Springbok Stormer loosehead prop Eddie Andrews remember him?

but the backs are trickier

For me i would have
9. Conradie, just has the edge over de Kock (Januarie?)
10. van Straaten, du Toit was shuffled all over the backline, not sure about Grant as an all round player
11. Rossouw, Habana not enough time yet
12. de Villiers, centres are the hardest to pick, de Villiers played a lot at wing in his early days with the Stormers with Barry and Joubert at centres, but his form at centre after Joubert left puts him in at centre
13. Fleck, think he had a leadership influence on the backs which Joubert doesn't have, Fourie not enough time
14. Paulse, easy
15. Montgomery, he was with the Stormers during his young career peak, Greeff was too much a utility back to be considered for any position

what do you think Intercept King JDV?

agree?

I nearly shat my pants reading this as an 'all-time' WP XV before seeing it is an all-time Stormers XV LOL (which is essentially only 2 generations making for slim pickings) and immediately excludes guys like Joel Stransky... tough one.

Chester Williams played 2 seasons but I'd pick Paulse in any case.

Anton Leonard was our best hooker but he moved to the Bulls early and you'd see him as a Bull I guess.

Brent Russell also started out at teh Stormers but I wouldn't have him in any case...

Are you taking the mickey? Victor Vito and Jimmy Gopperth should not be anywhere near this team. Neither should Tialata the most overrated player of all time. Also how do you put Gear on the wing and not even include Alama Iremia? Where's John Preston? Jason O'halloran? Stephen Bachop?

1. Bull Allen
2. Hewitt
3. Slater/Cavubati/Coffin
4. Cooksley
5. Eaton
6. Collins
7. Lesley
8. So'oialo
9. Weepu/Preston
10. Holwell/Bachop
11. Lomu/Telea/Randle
12. Iremia
13. Smith
14. Umaga
15. Cullen

Dion Waller should have a spot on the bench, Nonu instead of Gopperth.

Wow! calm down dude, it's just an opinion... Our teams aren't even that different.

Okay maybe Vito was a bit lucky, but the reason i have Gear instead of Iremia is cause i think that Umaga was a far more influential in the centers than on the wing.

Northampton Saints
1.Soan Tongahuia
2.Steve Thompson
3.Tom Smith
4. Courtney Lawes
5. Tim Rodber
6. Budge Poutney
7. Sam Harding
8. Paul Tapei
9.Mark Robinson
10.Paul Grayson
11. Ben Cohen
12. Carlos Spencer (i know he was fly-half but i needed tofit him in somewhere)
13. John Clarke
14. Chris Ashton
15. Bruce Reihana

Sam Harding - There's a player who could have been great if he wasn't playing in such a crap squad back then.

15. Girvan Dempsey
14. Shane Horgan
13. Brian O'Driscoll
12. Gordon D'arcy
11. Denis Hickie
10. Felipe Contepomi
9. Chris Whitaker
1. Reggie Corrigan
2. Shane Byrne
3. Stan Wright
4. Leo Cullen
5. Malcolm O'Kelly
6. Rocky Elsom
7. Keith Gleeson
8. Jamie Heaslip

Definately Dr Phil at 10, and while I'm a huge fan of Girve I think Isa has to be pushing him very close. I'd probably go with Isa to be honest.

Yeah, they're two marginal calls. I'd go for Girv at fullback because of his longevity and consistency for around a decade. If Nacewa plays for another couple of seasons as he has for the last couple of seasons he'll usurp Girv in my team. I love Dr Phil but Leinster have been far more consistent with Sexton- he split time at 10 during the ML winnin season, lead Leinster to the HC victory (in the semi and final) and brought them close to a double last year. Dr Phil may be more gifted but Sexton is more successful IMO.

was Paul Wallace good when he played for Leinster?

better than Stan Wright?

at loosehead don't you think Ollie le Roux offered more mobility than Reggie Corrigan although Corrigan was at Leinster for a lot longer?

thoughts

Wallace was decent but not much more than that in my opinion. I'd rate Wright ahead of him for his workrate around the field. Le Roux was excellent but only stayed for around 9 months (as did Rocky Elsom but Elsom's impact was immense). Corrigan was captain for multiple campaigns and won a **** load of caps.
