Springboks vs Wallabies, July 24th 2010, Third Tri Nations Test

I think the Wallabies probably can't believe their luck in having all the spotlights focused on the Boks after they were the ones to have a dubious pre-tournament build-up.

That said, I still think the Bokke will come home with a close win under the belt even with our horrendous record at Brisbane. They will be hurting and they will be hungry. Januarie and de Villiers on the wing were 2 of our major weak points these last two weeks. Fixed. I am reasonably happy with the backline. Would have prefered Meisiekind Olivier and Kirschner to drop out for a combination of de Jongh, Frans Steyn or invest in Patrick Lambie. Hougaard and v/d Heever are our best finishers out wide but I am happy with waht we've got when compared to the games against NZ.

Where I am worried is in the forwards selections. We might very well fall prey to an underrated Aussie forward pack even missing some frontline players. Our front row should at least get parity in the scrums and Rossouw and Matfield are class even if we are exposed at depth there at the mo. But playing both Spies and Kanko? Both are useless in a tight game.

i'm glad that Januarie is out of the line up. maybe ruan can prove himself worthy it will be gr8 if the boks take it they need a win after the taking down to earth by the all blacks the only thing that bothers me is aplon he should play on the bench as an impack player and houghaard should have been in the line up. Rob Horne is a surprise in the wallabies line up but got to give him credit he had a good S14 this year

Couldn't have put it better than you did except for the full back Lambie isn't a strong player internationally as he proved in the u\19 world cup this year the best choice in my opinion for Full back would have been Joe Pietersen, it just feels like he will be the second Percy.

Glad to see Drew Mitchell there, and AAC back at FB where he is best used,

I'm not that impressed by JOC, he was very good in that BaaBaas match, but then anonymous in the Australia game he played after.

Roll on saturday :D

I am very curious to see how we will do on saturday. Although the Springboks and All Blacks are considered top 2 of the world, Australia has a team which can beat anybody, even the All Blacks. After 2 beat downs in the last 10 days, I really hope they can recover from this and take revenge for last year's loss at the same stadium where they only managed to score 6 points. I hope Habana will find his old form because he is useless without his runs down the flank.

I am really thrilled to see the Kank play, finally! Pienaar blow PdV's mind away and send Januarie home for the rest of the season. I hope Aplon can show some of the quality runs he showed earlier against Wales.

Kirchner still as full back is a waste. Why doesn't Mr. Pringles get over his sorry ass feelings and calls up Francois Steyn? I don't understand how a coach of a national team can let his feelings get in the way of the perfect squad to win a tournament as prestigious as the Tri Nations.

In Holland we had a coach like that as well. Marco van Basten, as a national coach, completely embarrassed himself by removing Ruud van Nistelrooy, Edgar Davids, Clarence Seedorf and Mark van Bommel from the squad just because he had a unexplainable problem with them.

Now, years later, Mark van Bommel was the best man in the Dutch squad that made it to the World Cup final. Van Basten was interviewed on tv and still said that he would much rather play with someone else in van Bommel's place. Stupid moron! Mr. Pringles is exactly the same. He puts players out of position, calls up players that aren't even part of the first 15 at their club and to top it all off he refuses to call up Steyn because he plays in France and because, and I quote "it's difficult to keep track of someone's form when he plays overseas" but at the same time he calls up players like Jean de Villiers, Butch James and BJ Botha who play in Europe. Where does that make sense?

Well, to me he made himself a complete ridiculous fool and unfit to be a national coach, especially of a team as high-rated as the Springboks.

What I cannot get out of my head is how assistant-coach Muir goes through life nowadays accepting every lame decision Mr. Pringles makes because I just cannot believe Muir would agree with the foolish choices made by the big man.

I always download the match once it's finished. I don't know of any streams. Spring Tour matches is no problem but Tri Nations is difficult to find a stream of. I can maybe help you to download the match. You just have to be patient and avoid every rugby related site for a couple of hours after the match hehe

Cheers. Not really into the streaming malarky as either my or my parents' house have Sky, but seeing as I've just moved in Cardiff my new house only has freeview! Gaahh!!!

Wallabies lack power in the backs really :( all our good backs are either broken or dead :(

But the Boks backs don't impress me either......They have finally got rid of Januarie and Pienaar should add some spark but then Morne is a kickhead flyhalf followed by two "bash it up the middle" centres. It didn't get to the wingers in the last two games - they dropped it, muffed it - there is simply no spark, direction or combination in their midfiled....Habana and Aplon have the speed but I doubt they will see much of the ball...except chasing Morne's kicks....

The Wallabies in comparison have plenty of creativity - all those selected, except for Giteau, come with great Super 14 form - if they can reproduce that then they will slice up the Boks...B)

Anyone heard that joke, Springboks play 10 man rugby, forwards, kick and chase.

Wallabies play 10 man rugby, they don't have a tight five.

It is pretty funny and true ;)

I can tell you that an Australian rugby correspondent (didn't catch his name) nearly caused a car accident last night. I was driving home from work listening to RadioSport when I heard him say to Matt Brown......

"Benn Robinson is the best loosehead prop n the world"

I nearly drove off the road laughing!!!

Habana could always try lurking around near the offside line looking for intercepts....... hang on!!

Dunno why, but I'm looking for 2 of the Bok loosies to score here. Seems to me that they could pound on the Wallaby D.

Tight contest, 26-18 to South Africa.
