A Political Thread pt. 2

Quite, but it forces the poorly run councils into the ones that are managing and will only result in yet more services being either slashed even closer to the bone, or abolished entirely because they're all 'part of one authority.' It's very on brand for a Westminster decree.
I don't think there is such thing as a poorly run council they're too slashed to the bone.
In three years there's going to be a lot of unitary authories. Covering between 300,000 - 500,000 people. Unless there's a serious U-turn.
Its one of Labour's big tentpole changes they are making, homogenizing how local government works. This goes hand in hand with their planning law reforms.

Feeds the Trump narrative of look how stupid these people are. On this he'd probably have a point as much as it pains me.
Yeah it comes across as little more than virtue signalling. They should know you don't need to drill down into the details very much at all before you find a whole host of problems. Most obvious being the inability to enforce it.

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

Are you serious? This has got **** all to do "wokeness" its just countries shafting other countries through the UN. It’s a tale as old as the body has existed.
Yeah, please tell me how it can be recorded, how far does it go back? I work with facts, not theories and estimates.

There was no ecologist taking air quality measurements in the 1800s. I also suspect the record keeping was utter crap so no one will know how much was burned / consumed.

But also, industry breeds production, that breeds innovation. Without industrialisation over the last 200 years, we may not the technology we have now.

I dislike hindsight sanctions like this.

It's completely impractical and will never actually work, but it's not woke. You still have many rich countries continually polluting the earth and often not even in their own country. You could argue than at the start of the industrial revolution no one knew the consequences but now it's clear yet many people still ignore the situation.

I mean, i agree but there is an argument to be made that young lawyers from poor countries have fought for 6 years for the right to sue rich western countries...

You know the first law suit is targeted at thebUS, noones chasing China hahahah

This could be another issue that considers progress, in the context of western country bad, and I fully expect the usual suspects to start protesting about how the US should be sued because their use of fossil fuels historically is racist sexist and homophobic.

Ice core data is pretty reliable on the whole
