A Political Thread pt. 2

They're definitely in a strong position to nab both Tory and Labour votes at the moment.

I don't think Davey swan diving from a hovercraft into an alligator pool wearing 'vote yellow!' Speedos would be terribly helpful next time, so they need to start getting policies out there instead.

The biggest problem for them is getting the Beeb to stop disproportionately focusing on reform and its whopping four MPs, all of whom are *****.

Hahahahahaha

From all that I've read, it's Sultana who has been attacking the others in the 'party', unless people can point me otherwise?

Feels like she went ahead charging people to join the party when it wasn't agreed by everyone.

Can't agree more, she seems to be on a mission, jumping the gun even before things were agreed

Im so conflicted by this...

On one hand I understand why Starmer would recognise Palestine, it helps him personally and he feels an ethical responsibility, but I also think it does celebrate Hamas a bit, and gives them credence...

I feel like leaders offering to recognise Palestine after Hamas are defeated, or after the war / conflict is finished with, or even after a ceasefire would make more sense, but on this instance I dont want to berate, or praise Starmer

But are people not forgetting about the West Bank, because the recognition of Palestine includes this area?

With the illegal occupation of settlers in the West Bank the recognition is essential IMO.

Most people objecting it are focusing on the Gaza Strip which is only 6% of the total territory attributed to Palestine.

It's totally irrelevant unless and until we stop arming them and continue to fail to sanction every mother fucker in that evil regime.

Act, you spineless ****.

One day the Onion may just simply be deemed a news site rather than satire.
I've known about that site, but never got around to reading it.

This is my current favourite

This is the type of mentality I don't understand.

"Forced to leave the UK.... At some point in the future.... To go to our homeland..."

Sounds a bit of an exaggeration if you think the UK is not a place for Jews because of the recognition of Palestine, yet are not leaving immediately.

Yup this is the kind of person who won't accept a two-state solution regardless. For me the recognition of Palestine is one of the few "soft" things we can do its a shame this was supposed to be a stick to beat terrorist groups like Hamas with. Now its being used to against Israel instead which kind of shows how lopsided the arguement has become.

Im not sure that would be fair to say the same of say a Muslim after September 13th...

Id agree its stupid to feel unsafe in the UK, with its open minded and libertarian attitudes, but if she wants to leave and get her affairs in order before she does so its up to her.

It does remind me of the long list of Celebs who threatened to leave the US after the election if their team didnt win, then just ignore they said it.

Like I said earlier, I dont want to criticise or praise starmer for this, its posturing in reality because it means nothing, and it is something at least, but at the same time Hamas are celebrating they have one stage one of the war

I would say it’s a bit different for Jews with regards to them feeling safe. Jews, understandably given their history of being killed everywhere they go, are hyper sensitive/aware to this kind of stuff. I would say anti semitism is unique in that everyone hates the Jews. From left to right, poor to rich, communist to capitalists, Muslims to Christian’s etc etc so it’s a little bit different than celebrities.

You could argue this fear borders to the point of paranoia but you could also argue it’s logical given the history of the last 2000 years or so and how they’ve been ethnically cleansed and genocided from pretty much every country they’ve gone to.

Having said that you kind of get BS vibes from this person. I mean, calling up a radio show to say this? Possibly (I wouldn’t rule it out) but I would say she’s frustrated with the decision more than anything else.

I think Starmer handled it well. You could question the timing but to be honest the timing is always ****** anyway. He clearly said Hamas have no business in the future of Palestine.

Ye I'd agree with this, i was kind of poking fun, based on her potentially being disingenuous, and I get that there is a ramp up of anti semitism.

I mean just look at the news, 1000 boat people today, new record highs the next, 750k people incoming per year, huge swathes of these people have archaic attitudes toward women, and Jewish people, the protestsnon the streets chanting pro palestine
, and reports of antisemetic attacks increasing in recent years, the fear factor is really ramping up, hell even seeing the quotes and videos of Hamas celebrating must be hard to swallow.

Is Isreal a safer place to go though, increased global isolation, calls for their leaders to be tried for crimes against humanity, Iran and their ilk priming the next wave, and potentially Arab relations deteriorating...

Not mention Islamaphobia is on the rise as well.

If she has a young family she’d also have to factor in her kids serving in the IDF as well which is probably a tad more dangerous than joining the British army (which they wouldn’t have to join if they stayed anyway)

Point 1 I doubt she gives a **** tbh

Point 2 very valid, I hadn't even considered that
