A Political Thread pt. 2

One thing reform get right but I don't think anyone wants to admit is the only thing that will stop the boats it's making Britain completely undesirable as a destination. That involves completely ignoring obligations we signed up to regarding refugees and potential cruelty.

Personally I can't see anything else that will stop it.

I think @Saintjay said it a few pages back, it'll take a level of cruelty to stop.

Deportations back to country of origin, an implemented Rwanda plan etc..

I also think the UK will never be undesirable, because these people arent brought here based on truth, they are sold fairy tales about cars, houses, women. When they turn up they realise this is not reality, mental health drops like a stone, the realisation of their limbo existence kicks in, and all the money and effort to get here as an end destination was partially wasted. Its literally the end of the line, there are no other options, no refunds, no return dinghys back to better weather etc...

Thats when frustration builds, crime starts, radicalisation creeps in and well three truth is when you enclose large numbers of men with no outcome in sight hormones and desperation play a role.

That will help but will only go so far. A common thing you hear from anti immigration people is:

"Why do they need to come here? They go through so many countries to get here and you know why they don't stop at those countries? Because they came to the UK to abuse our benefit system etc etc"

What this point always fails to acknowledge is that the reason why is due to the language. We won the language war so of course immigrants want to come here as a lot of them will speak broken English.

What we really need to do, alongside your excellent idea of making this country a **** hole and therefore less desirable is get everyone to stop speaking English and, I dunno, Welsh instead. That'll stop the fuckers coming over.

Cymru am byth.
Tbh we seem well in the way to making the country a **** hole anyway. Didn't say it was a good idea or something I want or support, just that I feel little else will really stop it.

I got the intent behind your post.

My post, on the other hand, was deadly serious and something I would welcome. It’d work as well.

Don't think i mentioned cruelty tbh

Language is part of it, but the largest part is the money that can be made.

These poor gits are just piggy banks to the large traffick gangs, you spend your life's savings to get out of the middle east, and your dumped in Turkey, then your promised if you work, or spend more they can get you to the beautiful Greece, then when that doesnt work out lets go for the UK, they get exploited along the way, the women are seperated and amazingly very few make it to the UK, they are too valuable and they seek 'business ventures' along the route (I shouldn't probably put seek in ' ' as they dont have much say, then when they finally land on British soil their worth ends, and they are the problem of the British tax payer.

Trafficking and modern slavery is unbelievably profitable, and only about 5k people worldwide are criminalised for it, with the average sentence around 4 years.

The UK just happens to be the last stop on the line and the dumping ground, there 100% of the profitability is going into the UK, from Asia, Middle East and Africa, there isnt a penny to be made outgoing from the UK.

I agree with a lot of this especially around trafficking but I still think language is a massive driver. You’re more likely to capitalise on any money making opportunities if you speak the language.

If Fararge won the next election and, say for example, that he wanted to expel all Welsh people from the UK and started rounding us up I know where I’d want to go and it’d be any country that spoke English as I’d be more likely to get a job a lot easier than somewhere I couldn’t speak the language. I agree though that there’s a lot of people that are exploited at the hands of these traffickers.

Like I said its part of it, but in reality most of Europe speaks English, most major cities especially.

You'd be more than comfortable in any major european city from my experience language wise.

Im not sure if I mentioned it previously, but ive literally been asked by a young guys Interpreter (God damn I have nightmares about language line sometimes) when does he get his Car and blond wives lol. He was sold the dream that everyone in the UK is so rich, that when you get there money is no longer an issue.

One non descript no ID having guy ( 16 year old child lol) I picked up from Dover was so disgusted by the accommodation (4 bed homeless hostel) he got his dad to get him a flight back to Domascus so he could return home to Syria like he was on holiday ffs.

Those are very rare examples, I could tell some of the tales of abuse that would make your toes curl, which are far more common than these, but my point is the language is secondary, English is only used by probably around 50% - 60% (ive pulled that number out my arse mind) its the dream, and the chance to bring their family to that dream that leads most.

So you'll be fine in France if you only speak English and not French? Fine in Italy? Fine just about anywhere? I'm not so sure about that. Maybe Germany, Netherlands and Scandinavia but if you speak English it makes sense to go to England.

I think you also need to recognise countries like Germany etc are moving to the right when it comes to immigration. Portugal has moved to ban Burkas and face veils.

A number of European countries are becoming less welcoming. The political optics being if the problem moves somewhere else, it's no longer your problem.

Ye France is fine, ive been there quite a bit in the last few years, every city north of Paris speak English, as do most of the south, travelled to about 5 cities in 2023, visited twice since, and yes Milan, Rome, Pisa etc, even when over for the club games in Treviso english is pretty common. Im not saying there arent strong holds, and some places that would be more difficult, but ive never had a problem in a major european city that I can think of.

Infact ive worked in quite a few major cities, Munich, Madrid, Saltzburg, Vienna, Oslo, Naples etc... and not for the last decade, I can only imagine they've become more multi cultural and speak more english.

But im not denying your point, the language is a part of it, as is the europeans will to pass them through to literally anywhere else but their country.

Look at Merkels million, very few of them stayed in Germany by design

Its not just Germany, eastern europe refuse them, most europeans countries are leaning right, its only a matter of time before things get far more aggressive, and the 'anywhere but here' attitude turns to 'get out by any means necesary'.

The Burqa ban spans 6+ countries now doesn't it?

I stil think if you’re looking to get a job in France you probably want to be able to speak French and not English but maybe you’re right. You are 1 million percent more well travelled than I am.

I probably should caveat, that when I worked in France and numerous countries they were overwhelmingly in tourism, Ski resorts, bars, a few factories, florist, surf spots etc.

If I moved to a quantity French village im sure id struggle with the language, or to afford a roof over my head, but thats not where immigration heads really.

I went to France once when I was 8.

TBH I loved living in val D'Isere, but it was only a one season thing, before moving to Kitsbuhel, Verbier, and Bad Hof. But that was party central and few French.

The euros was an amazing few months, but spent all my time partying with different brits, similar the RWC.

I love the south, gorgeous places, but the French dont half make it unbearable, and Paris I didnt like 15 years ago, went again last year and its a dump of a city, especially the North where my car was smashed up and everything i had stolen lol
