This happening hours after Netanyahu's presser almost feels like a middle finger to all the countries criticising him for the starvation in Gaza and for his plans to take control of the whole Gaza strip. Similar to Putin always launching a big attack on Ukraine while a NATO security conference is going on.
Not sure of the details of this, i dont know thos guy, and I dont know if he was leading a terrorist cell advancing airstrikes on Isreal, but what is clearly is a new strategy from Netinyahu.
Isreal has comprehensively lost the PR war, that area of skirmish is dead and buried, with the UN acknowledging Hamas words as fact, and most western countries reporting the 'facts' from the UN, Isreal have no chance in turning the tide...
How long Netinyahu can hold on to this new exclamation I dont know, but he has Iran in check, frozen and too scared to do anything overtly, thats cut off a lot from a Hamas perspective, he has Trump stood behind him, and a lot of knee shaking western leaders unsure about what to do or say (just look at Starmers bumbling words), so as long as outside pressure remains quelled I think he just needs to keep interior opposition and the IDF in enough alignment to see this through.
Im trying to consider positives from the full scale capture of Gaza city and beyond, well it does bring the war closer to an end, if the IDF continue with raids this could go on for another decade, and tensions reignite over the next 100 years regularly. Im not saying I agree, but that must be the goal no?
Hamas have 1 more card to play militarily, because their PR war is going great, its just not doing what they want it to, they hoped for an Islamic army to come wipe isreal off the map, instead they have a few thousand students and grannies around the west having Saturday afternoon walks up and down cities, the political pressure isnt going to come without the USA, especially with Trump involved. But essentially the card is simple, release the hostages, ask Isreal to leave and go home and get to building 100 new hospitals.
Netinyahu refusing to leave after getting the 1 thing he openly states he wants would be the straw I reckon, certainly from the IDF who dont have the will for this any further.
Interestingly, I think Starmers over reaction to Palestine action could potentially be a uniter the country needs, there was brutal civilian treatment after Southport, there has been an escalation on the war on freedom of expression, if the right had any sense they would now in their thousands stand in solidarity with the left over this issue, on September 13th they should all hold Palestine action placards and create a massive issue for Starmer.
It will NEVER happen, but thats the smart play from a population standpoint!
