Hi peeps,

I am doing some research for my EA Rugby 06 project (LegendsPatch) and i thought i can kill two birds with one stone. :p

I would like some of your Club and National Team XV's. Ideally i'd like them from all major club teams and national teams. I'd ideally like the XV's from the years 1980-

Thanks guys and please post your XV's here :)

well you're bound to get plenty of arguements going with this project but I'll give you my Ireland XV for a start.

15. Hugo MacNeill 14. Simon Geoghegan, 13. Brian O'Driscoll, 12. Michael Kiernan, 11. Denis Hickie, 10. Ollie Campbell, 9. Colin Patterson, 1. Nick Popplewell, 2. Keith Wood, 3. Paul Wallace, 4. Jeremy Davidson, 5. Paul O'Connell, 6. John O'Driscoll, 7. Fergus Slattery, 8. Willie Duggan

Was there not a Ireland’s Greatest Rugby Team Of The TV Age thing done by rte? That was kinda ****. Think the front row was Phil Orr, Keith Wood and Syd Miller. Think Willie John Mc was one of the 2nd rows. Nevermind all irrelevant.

problem is some of them pre date the 80s, although not quite sure how Orr made it in ahead of Popplewell.

England.

15. Jason Robinson
14. Rory Underwood
13. Jeremy Guscott
12. Will Greenwood
11. Dan Luger
10. Jonny Wilkinson
9. Matt Dawson

1. Jason Leonard
2. Steve Thompson
3. Phil Vickery
4. Martin Johnson
5. Ben Kay
6. Richard Hill
7. Neil Back
8. Lawrence Dallaglio

Carling ahead of Greenwood, are you sure? In fact it's hard to look beyond the side which won the world cup, you wouldn't go too wrong

His moustache was the difference. Just awesome.

Willie John McBride surley in the Irish greatest team of all time! There is no doubt about it! Reckon people should be castrated if they dont think so, the bloke is a God!

Are you looking for 15 or 22 players?

EDIT: Just seen the top post McBride did not play in the 80's :(

15. Jason Robinson
14. David Duckham
13. Jeremy Guscott
12. Will Greenwood
11. Rory Underwood
10. Jonny Wilkinson
9. Matt Dawson

1. Jason Leonard
2. Brian Moore
3. Fran Cotton
4. Martin Johnson
5. Wade Dooley
6. Richard Hill
7. Neil Back
8. Lawrence Dallaglio

Amazing, almost a combination of the 2 great England sides of the early 90s and 00s.

Here's my all-time world XV, but I've limited it to players of the proffessional era because 1) rugby is very much different and 2) that's the majority of the period I've been interested in rugby.

14. Rupeni Caucaunibuca (Fiji)
13. Brian O'Driscoll (Ireland)
12. Tana Umaga (NZ)

Os Du Rant is the greatest prop of the modern era without a shadow of a doubt! And Keith Meeuws is a better bet at 3 than Hayman!

Tom Smith's performance for the Lion would take some beating Cymro![/b]

Yes but the fact still remains Tom Smith is no where as near good as what Os Du Rant was! Tom Smith was good but he was vulnerable against a bigger man and at times he struggled. I rate Tom Smith but he is no where near in the same league as Du Rant. Os Du Rant was the man, he was a machine and had he not gone into a premature retirement he would have past 100 caps with ease!

Cymro, you can do 22 if you like.

That's the makings of a good thread.

Under the religion section in the census form, I know several people that wrote Os Durandt under 'other'

I'd probably only agree with Zinzan out of those 4, don't think Wilkinson ever managed to reach the level of performance that Carter did during the 2005 Lions series, think too many people are overrating Leonard, longevity doesn't necessarily equate with greatness, (John Hayes can attest to that), had Woodman not got his serious injury he would be making these teams easily ahead of Leonard.
