Boxing is a joke

i am a big fan of boxing though i must agree that some boxers are just really up for the money and the show. i do hope that this sport will not be corrupted by some boxers who are plain greed. There a lot of good boxers there that i know and they genuinely fight for the win, they have yet to find good matches that will bring boxing back in the game.

I've never been a fan of UFC or MMA. No doubt I'll get absolutely ripped apart for this, but to me it always seems to end up with two guys wrestling on the floor as opposed to actually showing any skill at martial arts.

Boxing on the other hand has a certain finesse about it. While this hasn't been on display in the heavyweight division recently (largly due to the fact that NFL offers a more attractive career path for a big, quick guy than getting your face punched in), it's certainly still there in the lighter divisions. Imo, a good boxing match far outstrips a MMA fight in terms of entertainment, it's just a shame that the sport is in such a sorry state.
Um"wrestling" on the floor _IS_ martial arts...

Judo, BJJ, Wrestling (greco, freestyle etc), Sambo are at least (arguably more) representative of martial arts as boxing is.

Try doing an osoto gari, or a clinch-suplex, or slapping a tight triangle on someone; as easily as you can throw a combination.

No?

Then I'm sorry, but I'm going to respectfully say that you don't know what you're saying. :)

Don't worry the mickey mouse merry go round has gone round again with the Luxembourg Boxing Association has given a licensce for a Chisora vs. Haye fight in Upton Park in the UK, don't quite see how that works out.

It's cos the UK boxing commission have no say on where a fight sanctioned by another board is held. But yeah, it is a joke and all we're going to here from now on is these boreholes *****ing at one another

Chisora already claiming that Haye 'attempted' to knife him

Boxing = WWE, just without scripted matches

in other news away from this, Lamont Peterson tested positive for a performance enhancing drug

Wladimir Klitschko has also waded in calling it the 'Freak Show' haha.

This is probably the only boxing match I can remember looking forward to.
Hopefully Chisora knocks Haye out - While Chisora is a ********, he's kind of like a pantomime villain in how ludicrous he is. Haye is just a twat.

Anyone here Hay calling Chisora arrogant oh the irony.

It saddens me that this is getting more attention than the Mayweather Cotto fight did on here. The Klistscho's aside, heavyweight boxing is an utter joke. There's still a lot of quality in the lighter divisions though.

The Mayweather - Cotto fight was not that great really. Mayweather dominated from start to finish.

Cotto was gutsy but really outclassed ... I think Mayweather is keeping his cards close to his chest.

Yeah, but you know what I mean, an actual boxing match.

Mayweather will more than likely go down as an all time great imo. And with good reason too, you don't win ***les at five weight divisions for nothing. Shame he's such an utter scobe.

no, no, no James O'Connor thinks he's just misunderstood! lol... Or was that Justin Bieber! lol

Chisora and Haye make boxing look classless and ungainly while there is an understanding they're jokes.

It pains to to watch and listen to Mayweather. Yes he's a good fighter but he's benefitted from the press than boxers like Hatton and Oscar De La Hoya brought in. By the time they got older, Mayweather bet them and the devision got so much press that every fighter got a high profile. He's dodged Manny Pacquiao untill both are out of their primes. Had other boxers like Joe Frazier dodged Muhammad Ali and George Foreman, he'd have been undefeated and considered pretty good, but undefeated means nothing if you avoid the best boxers anyway.

The claim that he's also successful in 5 weight divisions I think's a bit misleading. From when he started boxing as a 19 year old to his now 35 year old self, he has gained roughly 24lbs (10.9kgs). The difference between Super Featherweight and Light Middleweight is from 59kgs-69.9kgs. Robert Duran made a 15kg jump in weight devisions while Manny Pacquiao has gone up just short of 20kgs since being a flyweight.

His attitude of ''I make the most money, I spend lots of money, I'm better than you'' doesn't endare me as a fan to watch any of his fights either. I'd rather not spend $40 for a PPV to support a guy who thinks he's better than the people paying to watch him fight. Most obnoxious boxer of all time.

That part is pretty debateable. Pacquiao is the one who didn't want to do the olympic style drug testing (for whatever reason). I don't think either of them truly wanted the fight to be honest. Had they had it earlier on, the loser would have obviously been the inferior one and couldn't have commanded the big paydays they've continued to get for all these years. It is too big of a payday to turn down though you would think they'll have it at some point.

I've always liked Mayweather, he's hard case.

He's a tool.

Manny has recently agreed to the urine and blood testing, but want a 50/50 cut (which is pretty reasonable considering he's the champion and it'll be a massive fight). Mayweather won't go 50/50, because he's a selfish, greedy idiot. Mayweather is only offering $40m for the fight, while he gets the reaminder in the PPV, which is likely to earn nearly $200m.

Nickdnz is correct Mayweather is a tool, the thing we have is Pacquaio has been wanting this fight for so long but time after time Mayweather has come up with excuse after excuse first money then drug testing now he dont want a 50/50 split when in fairness Manny has been the bigger and better boxer in recent years and more active.

Mayweather has turned the bout into a joke and I doubt it will ever happen...

Also the Luxemborg boxing board of control need a big slap in hte face for sanctionin Haye and Chisora those two should not be allowed near a ring again and another blow for the sport Lamont Peterson and Amir Khan has been called off after Peterson has failed a drug test.

The whole sport is a joke now. and is basically dead.

A big part of it is that there are too many federations trying to be bigtime, and thus you don't always (most of the time I would gather) get the best fighters fighting due to this. Another problem is that most of them are under rival promoters, unwilling to book fights against each other.

So if you don't have good fights because of this, then it just diminishes the sport.

Just look at Fedor in MMA - his management was unwilling to budge on any reasonable agreements with the UFC due to them ovarvaluing their fighter . Then he loses 3 in a row, loses the mystique, and now they're too proud to talk to the UFC again!

Not accepting fights. and ducking people due to pride isn't good for anybody in the fight business.
