[COVID-19] General Discussion

Fuuuuuuuu,

There an engineer somewhere in Serco swearing like mad because they aren't using the massive database theyve put together.and just copy and pasting data into Excel.

The National Public Health Emergency Team have recommended a four week full scale nationwide lockdown here. We currently have 150 hospital cases and 21 ICU cases with our ICU capacity being in the region of 350, It seems excessive to say the least.* The government are having a cabinet meeting today to discuss it so we'll see what happens, it'll be interesting to see what they do taking social and economic factors into account which NPHET don't.

*Especially considering the current sliding scale of restriction measures we have in the country ranging from Level 1-5. Dublin went from level 2 to level 3 over two weeks ago (2/26 counties are in level 3 with the rest in level 4) and case numbers appear to be flattening.

Now I love the cinema and honestly miss it soooooo much.
Especially since Vue near me is showing this month
Akira 4K
Jurassic Park
Psycho
Alien
Predator
Hocus Pocus

All films I have wanted to see in the cinema that I didn't get the chance too (Bar Jurassic Park).

But to me it just seems like the worst place during a viral pandemic.

"Go back to work, and support Pret"
"Eat out to help out"
"Go to the cinema"

"It's your fault the figures are looking a bit squiffy - why are you all socialising? I told you all to stay at home!"

No cinemas are going to be open anyway nothing is coming out and not enough people want to go. And it really doesn't matter as nothing is coming out because in the USA nobody is going either so we actually we can't do anything.

I've been to drive in cinemas here a couple of times since this started and enjoyed it a lot. Older movies like you said. You just need a radio. No idea if they're doing that near yourself but nice novelty.

Looks Corvid is doing more damage to the Trump administration than the Democrats ever could
have a bad feeling it might be the opposite, he's out there saying hes shaken it off, hasn't felt as good in 20 years, COVIDs not a big deal etc

(Forgive the Daily Heil link, they just had nice graphics)

Looks like we're getting three tiered lockdowns from Monday,

From the list below it looks like the the vast majority of the country will be in the red:

Just to compare our system. It's clearer on the face of it but the implementation has been questionable, assigning X cases per 100,000 to each level would make it far better.

The whole country is currently level 3 but I reckon level 4 in a lot of places is on the way.

Tories really using this whole situation to rinse everyone for as much money as they can

If you don't want to click through:

The two people who run this company are also employees of the husband of a Tory Baroness, who also runs a company out of the same registered business address

So nothing has changed since:

North of Ireland with 934 cases in a day. Near twice what we had in the south, and our figures are hardly good. No idea what is going on up there for such a high rate, but I hope they get it under contr fast.

Likely its coming from university students.

Up here, there is a large tendency for students to travel back to their parents over the weekends.

Obviously, this is a disaster for containment of a contagious virus. Drunken students spreading the virus among themselves during the week in Belfast, then back home to spread it to their families and friends over the weekends.
