Is 13. Armitage, 15. Foden a no-go?[/b]
Tait would be a better choice at 13 than Armitage,
If you wanted Foden and Armitage on the pitch, Foden at SH (though i don't know how much SH he's been playing recently) with D.A at FB

He's not put on a 9 shirt since last season.

That said, he's still a better option at 9 the Ellis.

A waste of Armitage's kicking and high-ball game, which is what marks him out as a great fullback.

Toby Booth may have an outspoken thing or 2 to say about that.

Then again, Toby Booth has an outspoken thing or 2 to say about everything.

Tim Payne has to be the shittest forward in the England squad since Louis Deacon. Who in their right mind would put this liability of a rugby player ( 4 yellows for scrummaging - including one red) in their team. Dave Flatman anyone? Ignored in both squads despite being the second best tighthead we have available.

Then there's Julian White - does **** all you don't know he's there half the time. How about Dan Cole or Duncan Bell eh Johnno?

Louis Deacon - Despite being ****, and proven as being ****, he still gets in the England team ahead of Dave Attwood and Nick Kennedy, standout locks of the season.

Jordan Crane - Ummm...just no. Chris Robshaw (player of the year 2009)

Luckily the backline looks pretty much ace.

I'd choose a team (from this squad) of:

01. Sheridan
02. Mears
03. Wilson
04. Shaw
05. Borthwick
06. Croft
07. Moody
08. Easter
09. Hodgson
10. Flood
11. Monye
12. Flutey
13. Armitage
14. Ashton
15. Foden

16. Thompson
17. Hartley
18. Lawes
19. Haskell
20. Care
21. Wilkinson
22. Tait

England could have a lovely backline if they give the players a chance to gel. Their back 3 has somew really nice players and Flood and Flutey present a solid 10-12 axis. Outside centre is still a problem. Tait hasn't ever convinced me and Hipkiss neveder gets enough of a run in the squad. I'd go with:

9) Care
10) Flood
11) Monye
12) Flutey
13) Hipkiss
14) Ashton
15) Armitage

A hell alot of potential there.

Yes but Care won't start because he nearly always makes the wrong decision. Flood won't start because he didn't win the world cup in 03. Besides this, that is a relatively exciting backline.

I don't know who Kennedy has to suck off to get somewhere in the England set-up.
....Oh actually....

So who would your replacement prop be?
[/b][/quote]

I'd rather not to be honest if Payne is the option. I reckon Thompson could do a better job than that asswipe

Not denying that Payne is garbage, but Thompson has never been a and cannot prop (he was a Flanker who tried his hand at hooking), plus he has a broken neck and wouldn't be strong enough to cope.

My (rather badly made) point is I'd rather have any other person on the bench than Payne.

ENGLAND SAXONS EPS
FORWARDS
David Attwood (Gloucester Rugby)
Duncan Bell (Bath Rugby)
George Chuter (Leicester Tigers)
Dan Cole (Leicester Tigers)
Alex Corbisiero (London Irish)
Phil Dowson (Northampton Saints)
Ben Kay (Leicester Tigers)
Nick Kennedy (London Irish)
Matthew Mullan (Worcester Warriors)
David Paice (London Irish)
Tom Rees (London Wasps)
Chris Robshaw (Harlequins)
Andy Saull (Saracens)
George Skivington (London Wasps)
Dan Ward-Smith (London Wasps)
Rob Webber (London Wasps)
Nick Wood (Gloucester Rugby)
Ben Woods (Leicester Tigers)

BACKS
Chris Ashton (Northampton Saints)
Brad Barritt (Saracens)
Danny Cipriani (London Wasps
Shane Geraghty (Northampton Saints)
Charlie Hodgson (Sale Sharks)
Stephen Myler (Northampton Saints)
Olly Morgan (Gloucester Rugby)
Paul Sackey (London Wasps)
Joe Simpson (London Wasps)
David Strettle (Harlequins)
Dominic Waldouck (London Wasps)
Richard Wigglesworth (Sale Sharks)
Mickey Young (Newcastle Falcons)[/b]

Why exactly is Ashton in both the Elite Second String Squad and the Elite(ish) Player Squad? Surely it's either one or the other?

He's an "injury replacement for Vickery", actually being a Saxons player.

It's a typical-RFU fiddle to draft in any player they want instead of sticking to the agreed EPS rules.

Nothing to see here, move along...

Lads, Englands problem is clear, They aren't getting a settled team and it means not alot can be done elsewhere.

Lets be honest Foden wont play because Johnson see's Armitage as his FB.

Flutey guaranteed centre spot.

Borthwick in 2nd row (where as if he weren't captain he'd struggle to make 22)
Nick Kennedy, Courtney Lawes & in my opinion Skivington(maybe not as clear) have all been better.

To all the Borthwick haters, why do you think he's so bad? He's a lineout specialist lock, and England's lineout is very good, so he does his job well. Because he's captain, people expect him to do the job of a brute 2nd row as well (like Shaw, or Lawes). Maybe he's not up to O'Connell or Matfield's level, but he's a far better player than Kennedy, and there's no one else after that.

Unless of course you went with Shaw and Lawes in the 2nd row. But then I'd think our lineout would suffer.

Borthwick as captain... he may not be the greatest, but he's as good as we've got. Easter could do it maybe, but he's not certain of his place, and he's also not even captain at Quins. Can't think of anyone in the backline to do it either. If Hartley comes through and establishes himself in the starting XV, maybe he's an option as well.

So have Wasps moved Vickery to the wing after he proved he can't prop in the Lions?

To be fair to Vickery (and i don't really like him) he did outscrum "Beast" in the third test.
