England World Cup Squad

Makes sense if it's because of Wilson's injury, flanker/8 cover n that

If he's there because of T.Curry/Underhill then it should 100% be Ben

He has a huge aubergine

Kvesic has played 8 all season but hes a 7 really. Underhill Curry Kvesic. 678....777 still makes 21 its fine.

Fielding three 7s makes more sense than fielding 3 of any other position, tbh

Question... Marchent on the bench but not in World Cup squad? I was confused.

Watson injured, maybe?
And Nowell and Slade not ready?

Did think it was strange he was the travelling reserve - had to double check the squad to see if he was in it.

I just had Joseph in the 23 shirt... I'm losing my marbles.

Joseph I believe was the original #23 for Ireland game yesterday

But Fast Eddie said that JJ was suffering from "muscle soreness"

The confusion comes because he drafted Marchant in from outside the squad, rather that Watson from within - who would have improved the balance of the bench, and was there in the stadium.

Why is it so hard to believe that he doesn't want to risk Watson?

Marchant was already training with the squad. (so too Kvesic)

Because he's never shown such concerns beforez but has consistently shown anhatred for drafting players from outside the squad. Only a week ago he preferred to have a hooker covering flanker than draft Kvesic from outside the squad.

It's unique, and goes absolutely against the last 4 years of evidence.

The last 4 years of evidence (8 actually, given what he did with Japan) suggests to me that his sole focus is the RWC.
So it makes sense that his methods change as we approach it. Singleton is hardly as important as Watson.
And his previous focus was on trialling specific players, and giving the chosen few as much experience as possible.
Neither he or Watson were going to learn much from sitting on the pine, or playing, really.

I don't see the big fuss with Marchant playing
He's 4th choice #13 behind Manu T + Slade + JJ

Fast Eddie mention in his post match conference yesterday that ENG were training with 34 players
Additional players being Marchant Ewels & Kvesivic & was positive in his comments re. 34 man squad

Watson started 1st 2 games No need to play him at all yesterday

ENG showed that they were dominant over Irish in several areas:
Curry & Underhill are vastly superior to any Irish #7 available

Itpje is several levels above James Ryan A much more impactful player
Itoje atm is nearest thing to Brodie Retallick atm in World Rugby

Heinz is likely to start at #9
Young is utter pants & only starts because ENG has few Int'l class #9's

Sinckler's hands are magnificent Him & Mako are a joy to watch with their silky skills
Very Rugby League Like & a core element of ENG's attacking shape
