Help Support The Rugby Forum:

the point is we've moved on a generation and people were expecting more from such a time distance. Madden 05 on Xbox 360 wasn't Madden 04 on steroids because they'd totally reprogrammed the game.. People are ****** because there's clear evidence of outdated animations and pretty sub par graphics compared to the competition...

Heres a review of the first Madden 360 game

"Madden 06 on the XBOX 360 has received a lot of bad press since its release, due mostly to its lack of features when compared to the XBOX/PS2 versions. There's no superstar mode, no mini-camp mode & no practice mode for starters. I can see why the fact these features are missing irritated some gamers"

Hmmm, this seems to go completely against what you said. FIFA was the same. Better graphics but less teams and game modes

People have no right to be ******. They are yelling to the hilltops that they won't be buying the game and it's rubbish this and crap that. Why not just decide that they don't want it after comparing the products after they are reviewed, there are demos, there are plenty of people who've an opinion either way?

No-one is reaching into their bank accounts and forcing them to buy either game. There is a strange mix of maturity and immaturity in the gaming community. Most grown-up in other aspects of life, buying cars for instance, don't run into a dealership yelling or screaming that their car doesn't have all the features of another car and trying to mock or insult the company. They either want it, or don't and move on with their lives with their dignity intact.

Some gamers on the other hand seem to think being incredibly negative and nasty is some kind of reflection of superior intelligence and maturity. It says more of the opposite to me.

If I don't like something I try my best to suggest in the most reasonable way possible that maybe it could be changed in the future. It's not hard to do, but it's not cool enough to treat people with respect like that.

People are ******? Really? That's so weird. Go buy whatever you like best and get over it maybe? :)

Come on people everyboby knew that it was build up from 08 with some improvements! Now everyone is complaining about stuff they allready knew! AJ was clear from the beginning that they focused on gameplay rather than animations!

Am I the only one that wouldn't mind Rugby 08 on steroids?? I don't condone the use of the substance, but surely if the original was (arguably) the best rugby game created, then a little bit of chemical help is a good thing :P

All the previews of the game so far have stated that RWC 11 is a step up from 08, which can only be a good thing. If I'm honest, i was disappointed with the trailer, but trailers aren't really meant to show off every little thing. Its most definetely got people talking about the game. Whats the old saying - "Any publicity is good publicity, unless you touching kids" (which is bad, very very very bad and no-one should do that!)

Ive been a member of this forum for about 6 years. I joined to discuss rubgy gaming, as this is and was the best place for it. While
I frequently read other sections of the forum, I do not often post. I dont feel like I have anything to contribute in that area.
Does this make me a goon for only contributing in RC and RWC11?

These days, arent people required to join in order to view gaming content?
i think hes refairing to one post wonders who only come on to fanboy and complain

After reading some of the comments on this thread I think the following statement is appropriate... "There can only be one" - Highlander... Back on point, it won't be Rugby WC 2011 :(

Well I think with both titles having online play now, there would be an obvious beneft to a large majority of players playing only one title.

There would be no doubt be a small benefit, but honestly there's enough community for two rugby games. A lot of people don't play many online games now outside of their friends list. After all, there are numerous flaws in the areas of ranking, quitting, glitching, lag and general protection against poor sportsmanship in online gaming. On top of that you get gloaters and idiots who think it's funny to turn music up loud on their headsets, it's not the be all and end all.

There's still plenty of options for people to game with their mates, both online and offline and in those cases it's not that important that there is just one game. Rugby is smaller than soccer and Madden etc, but it's bigger than League and more diverse an audience than cricket.

This whole "we need everyone playing one game" isn't a big one for me. :)

That's actually not the point to be back on. It sounds like a statement of fact too, but merely an opinion dressed up as such though.

IGN Publicizing RWC 11 on their homepage - showing the trailer. Same Old, same old with the comments......

Can't wait for the demo to prove everyone wrong, can't wait to work out the ruck system :D

RC has similarities to RL3 in that we had a similar development approach and design philosophy. Under the hood a lot has changed as every system has been changed, improved, or remade from scratch and all the animation and content is completely new. Obviously, there are differences between the Wii Remote and PS3/360 controllers so there is a fundamental difference in controls there too (unless you played RL3 with a gamepad anyway). So maybe RC will have progressed enough from RL3 for you, perhaps not depending on what specifically you didn't like.

Looking forward to playing the RWC 2011 demo. Am interested to see the design decisions HB have taken in action.

Fact is look at the both trailers. Both are incredibly different and you can tell RL looks crappy whilst RC looks absolutely brilliant. Sure they may be glossing it up and making it a perfect marketing, but this is in game footage and it does look good. We may be wrong but regardless unlike RWC everything RC have done up until now has been almost flawless and has been brilliant marketing.

I'm not sure I can agree with that, if it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't even know RC existed. Even the UK retailer they chose is a poor choice, never even heard of gameseek and not sure I even trust the site. The reviews seem to be pretty poor with its success rate of delivering on time and the site doesn't even advertise the game anywhere. The only difference between Sidhe and HB, is Sidhe would reply with "I can't answer that"

Yeh true i didn't say what i meant really. Basically i meant by what they have released in the pictures and videos, and the way they have been very helfpul is very good. What you said wasn't so flawless is definitely something that could be better definitely!

What marketing has been done from both sides shows very little of the gameplay. Marketing is all about how you can make people buy hype and want something. It's okay to be swayed by something like that, but it's not that smart to make final judgements based on marketing.

Sidhe have never really had a problem with graphics before, it's not something they've ever been bad at. They have done particularly well with this Rugby title in the graphics area, but the fact remains that Rugby League is the nearest they've produced to Rugby so far and the results were mixed to say the least (or perhaps to say the most). Still, I'm sure they have learned lessons and they could quite possibly produce something really special here.

My own view on the graphics is that they look quite sharp and impressive, yet the players have something of a baby-faced thing going for them, some of the proportions (giant hands) are a little wrong and some of the licensed likenesses are more questionable than the the really big names that they've modelled extremely well.

The colours seem extremely vibrant in an almost cartoonish fashion and although the contrasts are amazing within the conext of shadows and lit areas I find find that some of the colour aspects look a little to anime to me. It seems like the difference between the realism of Top Spin tennis (RWC, but less good graphics maybe) and Virtua Tennis (RC).

Don't get me wrong I like the graphics, but it seems a little off to me. To be totally fair though, this is their first rugby crack and graphically it's awesome for that. :D

This whole "we need everyone playing one game" isn't a big one for me. :)

But at this stage we know that almost without question RC has RWC beat on features, longevity due to comp, player and team creation, graphics. The only areas that RWC could have RC beat is gameplay and online usability. Now while I agree those are without doubt the two most important features that will make or break either game. But again, ask yourself this question, at this stage why wouldnt you be hoping for anything less than RC blowing RWC out of the water, that way you have it all?

IF RWC beats RC with gameplay and online play, then we still have a flagship product with some very major flaws.

Exactly it is comments nothing more,go look on the web you can find a few hands-on previews for rwc11! I would rather believe peoples previews who actually played the game then some of these guys who are only speculating!

And while your busy try and find some for rc! I could only find 1 and that was in june by nz gamer! It makes me a bit suspisious!

More people will have played RC by Wednesday then the amount of people who have played RWC.

Graphically with regards to RC, I wouldnt have asked for much more than they have delivered, in fact Im absolutely delighted with them. Gameplay wise is where SIDHE have let me down in the past with the likes of RL2 ( They got it right with RL3 though ), I just hope I find my peace with their gameplay this time around.

Were's the gameplay today!!!!!! I love this game I've been supporting it since day 1!!! TO be honest I loved the tackles from 08 and am happy with it

The so called goons are the ones who contribute to the RWC'11 section and RC section only, but then its easy for the newbies to come here and take a pop at staff and others because they are open minded about RWC'11 and put the spiel out that 'the TRF partnership' / staff are window lickers. If people have had their say about how rubbish the game is going to be / not going to purchase why do they continuously carry on posting in the RWC section?

Just remember this forum is about Rugby and not just about games ... or have people seemingly forgotten that? Be nice to see people contribute to other areas of the site.

I'm not taking a pop at the admins. I just don't feel that it's fair to call a user whose similarly open minded to your opinions a Goon. Sure you completely disagree with me but you don't have to call me a fool after I've shared my opinion with others who might just buy the game just because(they are the real fools). I said that people should 'cancel their pre-orders' etc and that's how i feel because the trailer was extremely disappointing and maybe I'm being too judgmental but honestly the negatives have easily outnumbered the positives in the build up to this game. And I'm sure you'll agree, feedback from other users over the last weeks after screenshots etc have not been good overall.
Perhaps, in a forum like this - TRF, where HB Studios advertise their game, it's out of line to discourage the buying of the game like my earlier post says.

Sorry for not participating in other non-gaming related threads throughout the site, but as you know I needed to join TRF to access the latest news about the game - I joined to see the news and not to participate in other threads(not that I wouldn't in future)

And finally, the reason why I keep posting is because I have hope for this game and when I see a bad trailer I give my opinion, after my opinion is shared(I've had my say) I'm called a fool by an admin AND REPLY(like now).
