Here's my version of a Roster Editor. Based heavily off Woosah's editor and the Excel editor shared on the forum. It's available on Github:

https://github.com/jimw546/08-Roster-Editor/releases

This is a very early design so it's quite easy to make the program crash, but for now it can do the basics. Currently you can use it to import an existing roster, edit players and team information, and save Roster files and rdf files for World League:

Under the "Extras" button there's options to enable/disable injuries, view and edit the Player/Team databases directly, and get the file names for team graphics such as kits or logos:

This is a work in progress, but it does function. The only big issue at the moment is it's very slow to save the roster files, so it might look like the program "freezes" when outputting files. The data it pulls is directly from the roster file loaded, plus be29 .xml and 119ba .xml to populate some of the tables/names.

Feel free to give it a go and let me know of any feedback or features that could be added.

Great job! I've got a few ideas:
  1. Maybe add a clickable point marker or tooltip that explains what each stat does in the game (for example, I'm not really sure what "tend" means — maybe that's just my lack of English knowledge XD).
  2. A stat randomizer (and why not for teams too?).
  3. A player overall stat like in Woosah's editor — maybe also highlight which stats actually affect the overall rating (from what I've seen in Woosah, only some stats matter depending on the player's role).
  4. The option to make a player a "star player" — I read it's not possible, but maybe you're a magician.
  5. The randomizer could depend on the overall you want, the player's role, or maybe some stat ranges.
  6. Team categories seem a bit weird (for example, Treviso is listed as a representative team — maybe that's how the original game does it, but I'm not sure).
  7. It would be cool if the teams used their in-game names based on the roster instead of the original ones.
Also, I was wondering — why are there some blank or inactive teams?
Anyway, thanks a lot for all the effort you're putting into this awesome game!

Can do, I'll see if I can get hover-text working, or a How-to or FAQ thing. (tbh I'm not 100% certain of some of the names either)

It's on my list but I haven't looked up how the game calculates overall ratings yet, I know it's position-specific.

The option to make a player a "star player"
I believe star players are on pre-assigned addresses only, if so that means you can't add any new ones. I was thinking instead to just highlight the star player addresses somehow. I know "^" symbol is used to add the star to a player name.

Team categories seem a bit weird (for example, Treviso is listed as a representative team — maybe that's how the original game does it, but I'm not sure).
It's because there's not enough european teams in the base-game to have all the Top14/Prem/URC teams, the TRF25 mod replaces some of the "representative" teams with the missing clubs, eg. Connacht replaces Australia-A. The team menus crash if you try to add too many extra teams to them so some of the modded clubs are still under the "representative" tournament.

With blank and inactive teams, that's just how the files in the default game came originally. There's over 100 slots for extra teams but the game will crash if you add too many new ones.

It would be cool if the teams used their in-game names based on the roster instead of the original ones.
I've just re-uploaded the zip file to include be29.xml and 119be.xml, I thought I'd included them but clearly forgot to add them. The Editor DOES pull the names from these files, so if a team has its name updated in be29.xml, it will be updated in the Editor. The TRF25 xml doesn't have all these names updated fully so I've done it myself.

Yes, the "Save RDF" button will create 73cb47d1d69c90f28fd1cc4186ac1926.rdf, which is what a new World League save pulls its roster from. Open a roster with the editor, then save the .rdf file into your Rugby 08 folder in Program Files.

I can have a look, but you haven't uploaded anything. You need to upload a .zip file containing the roster. I can see in your screenshot though that the first player listed is broken or imported incorrectly.

hi Jim, thanks for the pointer about the broken player, the roster is basically my experimental roster mostly focused on current international seasons so i do alot of editing of players during international season for my pleasure,

now i want to try add this roster to align with URC and best way to simualte is in world league actually,

please find attached roster

Thank you, I've used your roster through my debugger. It's crashing at the team performance stage because you have these values:

1761585185778.png

The game expects values between 1 and 5. There's a help message on the above window to show what the correct values are.

Changing these values to 1 and the Create RDF function now works, I've attached the file generated though I have not tested it out.

I'm surprised the "broken" player went through with no issues. It's player index 2,000 in your original roster file, looks like someone's tried to add extra addresses/values here, then tried to strip the data by blanking it but used the wrong symbol for "blank":

The yellow bit and the rest of that line should be all 0's. I wrote the import function to ignore players with a 0-0 address, but this player has an "address" of sorts so it got imported. Don't know how best to work around that. Maybe a way to delete imported players?

Thank you Jim

i will be testing the roster out, you should give the springboks vs all blacks fixture a go if, play end on view with the alternate camera view by pressing 'E' or "B' on controller and set all settings to 0 to add an immersive camera

also in regards to the player im glad i could add a challenge to your long list of things to do. i unfortunately dont have a strong enough pc to do mods, but working on it.

i appreciate your Kits and Auxiliary work

big ups

Wow Thanks a big Buck to unlocking the potential for a global leauge the only thing that prevented me from editing world league teams and players.

i have lots of work now too

Hi @jim546

Great work with your release! I'm wondering if maybe you could help me with something. I'd like to add a few players which are missing in Rugby 08, but were in Rugby 06. Would it be possible to make a player converter from 06 to 08, to add them to the rosters & database?
