Same,
I had it for Wonderboy at the time but watching it again I can see why Till won it 3 - 2 (don't agree with the judge that gave it 4 - 1). Could very easily have gone 3 - 2 Wonderboy, the people calling it a robbery are off their rocker - it was an insanely close fight that could have gone either way.
Excited to see what Till does next and he's been very humble/realistic after the fact, saying he doesn't deserve a ***le shot because he's not beaten enough top contenders and he missed weight as well. Him vs Usman would be very interesting, we've not seen his grappling tested yet and Usman is a top draw wrestler. Usman is also a hothead so I could see Till goading him into a standup fight, which Usman would lose handily.

In other MMA news Bisping has confirmed his retirement. Absolute legend of the sport and the reason I got into MMA. TUF winner, two time TUF coach, first British champion - guaranteed hall of famer.
His win over Rockhold is my favourite MMA moment ever, bar none. Jump out of my seat and was just going "HE ******* DID IT" over and over.

Excellent tribute video by BrattMamley here, well worth a watch of anyone vaguely interested in the sport:

Whittaker/Romero was ******* great.

CM Punk vs that other guy was embarassingly bad.
I mean... CM Punk just doesn't seem like a good athlete at all, it's hard to believe he's been training for as long as he has considering how stiff and unnatural it all looks to him.

4 years full time training at one of the best camps in the world and he looks like that...
I genuinely don't get it, his striking looked absolutely terrible. I've seen people with a couple of months training throwing punches better than that.
He's a blue belt in BJJ as well but didn't know how to close guard or even attempt a hip escape or triangle.

It was genuinely embarrassing.

Whittaker vs Romero will go down as one of the all time greats. Whittaker fought 4.5 rounds with his thumb literally snapped in two, as well (he put the x ray on insta).

Hate Covington but it was a good result for him, completely imposed his game plan to perfection. Don't see what he can do to Woodley though. Won't be able to take him down or cage **** him cause Woodley is as good, if not better, a wrestler and is significantly stronger. He also hits 20 times harder than RDA and RDA landed some clean shots. Colby has the gas advantage but I don't know whether he can A) survive long enough for it to matter or B) force Woodley to work hard and gas out.
Hope Woodley straight up kills him, though. I know his whole thing is an act but I hate it.

I don't think I've ever seen someone so rigid in all my life.

I stopped watching wrestling long before he was a name, and I'm really curious to watch some of his matches now.

It's remarkable just how awful he was, I genuinely think I would have been significantly better.

I bet there's a lot of pro-wrestlers who feel embarrassed by him right now.

Francis Ngannou was homeless on the streets on Paris 5 years ago, to put CM Punks skills into perspective.

It was definitely one of the only times I've watched pro combat sports and seriously thought "Yeah, I reckon I could take him"

Funnily enough, I reckon I could've taken Ngannou on this past weekends (lack of) form.

Dana mentioned during his post fight presser that Ngannou's ego had gone WAAAYYY out of control during the build up to the Stipe bout... looks like his ego is bi-polar then coz he currently looks about as confident as a freshly dropped Bambi.

Dana criticizing Ngannous ego is pretty rich considering it's his fault his ego was so high.
Like the build up to the Stipe fight he barely marketed the champ and was just blowing smoke up Francis' arse instead. His line about Francis hitting as hard as a Ford escort going full speed will go down in history.

Dana was just doing Dana... he never had time for Stipe as he never saw him as a 'needle-mover'... Ngannou on the other hand, he thought would be the next big thing... until he wasn't. Now he is frustrated that he clearly got it wrong.

Still, that Ngannou performance at the weekend... just wow!

33 punches thrown in an entire fight

They always say heavyweights is either 5 minutes of war or 15-25mins of ****, but that took the biscuit.
Lewis got paid 260k for it, 11.8k for each of the 22 punches he threw.
Nice work if you can get it!

Ain't that the truth! Aside from that though it was a great card. As someone who at one time consumed all the MMA available (UFC, Pride, Strikeforce, Bellator as well a then weekly patron of the MMA Hour, Promotional Malpractice and anything else I could find out there) I've kinda fell out of love with the sport but I really enjoyed Saturday night (Sunday morning). Not entirely sure how I felt about the DC-Lesnar theatrics but deffo happy for Cormier... his life would make a pretty decent movie.

Moving forward, really hoping that they can get a deal for TJ vs Mighty Mouse post-227... and MacGregor vs Khabib would be nice too.

Khabib Conor at 229

Poirier Diaz at 230

Those are two insane fights but T-Ferg is getting absolutely ****** over.

Also middle weight is ******* nnuuttss
Rockhold/Weidman 2, Adesanya/Brunson, Romero/Costa

Highlight of that press conference was the journalist asking till if he's scared he's gonna miss weight, till explaining how he's got a new weight cut process etc, putting the mic down then picking it back up and going "**** you"

I had lost some of my interest in MMA over the last year but yesterday's presser has definitely gone some way to rekindling it. Loved the pop from the crowd that Nate got, he will have to be near his very best to deal with Poirier and I reckon he knows that. The strange thing is that in almost all of the fights I'm torn on whom I would like to win. Big fan of almost all of the fighters.

Shocked that they are throwing Costa in with Romero, they see him as a future Brazilian cash cow. The Cuban could really mess with that plan. Either way looks like being a great fight.

Also looking forward to the two WW fights, T-Wood vs Till and Cowboy vs Perry.

TJ vs No Love 2 should be a match for any of those match ups too. Hoping TJ can make it two to zero and end the feud tonight.

Yeah costa is getting thrown to the wolves,
If he wins then it's fantastic for his career but I can't see anything other than a brutal brutal Romero KO. Maybe they just want to make their money before USADA inevitably catches him because there's no way he (or yoel) aren't on that stuff they gave Steve Rogers in the first Captain America film.

I know what you mean about the matchups, I have my favourites but other than Adesanya (and obv Khabib) I'm pretty torn.
I'm a massive Nate fan but I think I'd rather Poirier win because I'm sick of the whole McGregor Diaz 3 shtick, and Poirier absolutely deserves to be up there, he's on a tear. I reckon he will, as well - Diaz has had two years out of the game and has been in some wars over the years, I reckon he's gonna be rusty AF coming in, whereas Poirier is looking better every fight. Plus Poirier has an excellent leg kick game and the Diaz bros refuse to check kicks and lead real heavy on their lead legs.

I'll always back the British fighter, and I love till (both his persona and his fighting style) but I'm also a big big fan of Woodley (think he gets a really bad rap from the casual fans). Kinda wish this fight wasn't being made so soon but equally I'm really excited for it. Don't want to see either lose, but I want Till to bring the belt home with him.

Well looks like the Nate vs Dustin bout is off already:

https://www.mmafighting.com/2018/8/...s-ufc-after-25th-anniversary-press-conference

though it could just as easily be 'back on' tomorrow with how Nate's mind works.

I'm a massive T-Wood fan too, he's a real well spoken, intelligent dude who stands up for his rights. Think his bad rap comes from the 'perception' that he picks his fights. All he tries to do is guide the narrative but due to his unpopularity it always seems to go the other way for him.

Nah nate already came out and said it's still on, he's just ****** off that they ran that promo at the end of the presser and didn't put him on that card
His bank balance will keep his ego in cheque, especially when he's gotta pay Nick's legal fees as well

Good, although I get his frustration. Would have been a great co main to the Khabib vs McGregor fight though. I get the feeling that Dana may have 'allowed' Diaz to believe something other than the truth.

Yeah I would be amazed if they didn't tell both Dustin and Nate that neither Conor nor Khabib were fighting again this year and that's why they agreed to the fight

I'll be in the middle of exams for McGregors fight so no **** up for me... Too bad, they're generally fun if done right and this will likely be the last when he taps out and runs from the sport. I do hope Khabib wins, McGregor is an embarrassment to Ireland at this stage.
