Most Underrated Players

Brendon Leonard; This guy should be the no. 1 halfback in New Zealand; his running game is simply amazing

Without a doubt, Victor Matfield - South African Lock.
He's a tremendous jumper in the line-out, a strong runner and a caption worth his weight in gold. Also happens to be a very nice guy (off the field) ;) [/b]

When you got a bit of time, let's have a drink together. We can discuss many things, such as the meaning of life, and of course, the meaning of the word "underrated".

I agree with the call on Nick Evans. He's not necessarily underrated but will not get the game time he deserves. The joy's of playing second to one of the worlds best i guess.
[/b]

Could not have said it better myself. Would go very close to be included in the starting lineup of any other team in the world. But we never really get to see him play. I wonder if he would consider a switch to 12 for next year in the ABs once McAlistar and Mauger go?

Cédric Heymans, able to play fullback or on the wings. Moreover he will start vs Argentina this friday.

Gordon D'arcy - in the shadow of BOD at club and country

Stirling Mortlock - just as good or better than Giteau

Lionel Beauxis - great player, unlucky to be behind Skrela with Stade and France when there is nothing between them.

Sean Lamont - would make most Intenational backlines

Bernie Richter

Played Number 8 for us at school from '97 - 99, and was brilliant. You'll have never heard of him though, that's how underrated he was.

why not carter play at 12 and evans at 10, that would be nice. but seeing as how carter is the golden boy at the moment and no 10 incumbent, theres little chance carter will move to 12.

i'd say only Beauxis of those 4 is underrated. D'Arcy is very highly rated, as is Mortlock since he showed the world a few holes in the All Blacks defence. Lamont isn't really underrated, he just hasn't played for sides that give him the opportunities to shine.

Dwayne Peel - My opinion best half-back in the world

Stephen Jones - Had a bad year but still great

Olly Barkley - Miles past Toby Flood or Shane Gerherty

Ruan Pinaar - For some reason seen as the 3rd choice Scrum half in South Africa

Iestyn Thomas - Destroys most scrums

Aaron Mauger - World class centre

Gordon Da'arcy - World class centre

D'arcy

Mauger

Skrela (at least, here in France for many years)

Beauxis

Nyanga (except for EA Sports)

no one in ireland underrates d'arcy at all [/b]

No-one anywhere underrates D'Arcy. It's widely accepted that he isn't just O'Driscoll's partner in the centre, he's a class act in himself.

Really? Well, I think here (in Argentina) he isn´t considered as a supertsar of the Northern Hemisphere, like BOD, Jauzion or Robinson, for instance, but he is. But if you say he´s not underrated in there, I´ll take your word. And what do you all think about Corleto? I´m sure he is one of the most important players of the Argentinian team, and an amazing finisher, and he deserves more credit.

Alot of the better players from Argentina are very underrated by most rugby followers as they aren't seen play as much as 3/6N teams. Many of the Argentine backs especially are underrated as the Pumas have always been regarded as a team of piano pushers, rather than piano players.

I really think that Shaun Connor is really under rated. the guy is really good, but is very tempremental, which i think may have prevented him from getting near the welsh squad. One minute brilliance (kicking almost everything against cardiff blues last week), but the stupidity (missing the straight forward last minute kick that would have won us the game last week).
