Interesting. I'd be happy with Schmidt as head coach, even if I'd prefer someone with no connection to any of the provinces. Whoever the new coach appoints to look after the Defence, Forwards and Backs will be crucial.

That question though how much input will IRFU have in selection of coaches. And giving Kiss the job is same as retaining kidney in my opinion.

Joe Schmidt was interviewed on the Late Late Show earlier. At the end of the interview he said we can probably expect an announcement in the next week.

Gibbes has a lot more experience than Foley did at the time. Gibbes has been here since Cheika.

Yea but it not a simple promotion in terms of Leinster may want a totally new voice. It's nothing to do with experience etc. it's all on how Leinster board see it and can I ask if Gibbes got it would gameplan be more forward orientated?

   We have to state that it's only a rumour. However word is that Joe Schmidt has signed on the dotted line to become the new Ire coach

I would have thought announcing it ~5 mins before the Leinster team-talk would have been the IRFU's usual "logical" approach! :lol:

I think it's all but conformed at this point, and I would think that the Leinster player will know it for certain. It will actually probably spurr them on to make sure that Joe ends his time having won in europe 3 seasons in a row.
