Petulant Tw*t at it again

Pretty bloody poor from Armitage. What had Myler done? Nothing, just helped stop a try! It's the equivalent of some thug punching some random person who's minding his own buisness in a pub. I don't care if he's a decent player, rugby would be better off without him!

I agree completely,
Simpson-Daniel and Sharples should be in there over Banahan and Strettle,
Voyce ain't too shabby either, and Freddie Burns looks a great prospect

don't mention Simpson-Daniel, yes he is good, but whenever mentioned along the lines of England recall he breaks his leg again or something

Armitage is turning into an idiot

He has been an idiot for years and to contrast what some people have said I think he is totally overrated. Hopefully he gets banned for striking an opponent.

As Olyy has said I think Burns is a great prospect. I have been a fan of his for over a year and I think he has ability which backs up confidence years ahead of his time. With experience he will learn more about game management but he has the skill and attitude to be a future England star IMO.

No thread on this match, so I'll say this here - Northampton are a good team, but they ain't going to win any big ***les. Their management of the last 20 mins was ridiculous, and their scrum half is a flake.

Irish should have won, but they're a bit thick, like - the final two lineouts were comedy gold.

edit: On the Armitage thing - I assumed the saints player took an unlucky hit when he went to ground, but that's a clear assault by Armitage. I wonder if it does him any harm for England selection - Johnson will be looking for that kind of 'spirit' against SH teams this autumn.

I agree from what I have seen Steffon Armitage seems an utter gent and on the pitch does not act the **** ...as was mentioned before huge contrast to petulant twat Armitage :p

The author seems to think if he is cited he will be lucky to receive a low end charge by the RFU if asked to appear, and a 5-8 week ban would be more likely. The author also points out the sad thing is, as most have said on this thread, "the lack of a specialist alternative at full back. While Ben Foden is the established first-choice, Armitage is the next best option."

The thing is, there's no shortage of fullbacks in England. Just thinking off the top of my head, of out-and-out fullbacks, the pecking order (ignoring Balshaw!) would be thus:

1. Foden
2. Armitage
3. Goode
4. Brown
5. Abendanon
6. Morgan

And fair enough, only two of those guys have been properly tested at international level, but I can't imagine any coming in and being shown up - even flaky guys like Abendanon can make up for defensive weaknesses with moments of magic.

To be fair Goode looked good at 15 yesterday. Could be worth giving him a shot at the jersey in the summers tests.

Goode's looked good at 15 for 2 years now. His tackling could improve, but every other part of his game is spot on. But England managers traditionally ignore Saracens players. Hence the reason we have just one part-time international in Strettle. Saull, Goode and Barritt should certainly be involved in the setup somewhere, with perhaps George, Short and Farrell featuring at some point in the future.

But since they're at Saracens I doubt it.

Short looked very good yesterday as well - quick and a strong runner

Barritt not being the England 12 is an outrage, he's fifty times the player Hape could hope to be
Banahan started at 12 for Bath the other day so he'll probably be Englands 12 now =/

Bad thing about this is that Banahan is pretty much guaranteed the 22 shirt for England now

As much as Armitage is an absolute c**t, he's a better player than Banahan

Hopefully Sharples has caught Johnsons eye

Manu Tuilagi should be in the England squad.

Agreed, but not the best player for the 22 shirt, as he is a centre who can play wing, rather than a wing/fullback (which is what a 22 should be, imo)

True.Anthony Allen could push hape for that number 12 shirt i think.

Dewi Morris actually wants that. Twat.

I think the obvious thing is England actually do have alot of decent options over Armitage, who like Henson may be a good player but if the attitude isn't right the rest ain't worth a crap

I heard that. He said he doesn't care where Banahan plays but he should be playing for England. He only wants him to play because he is big and strong. He doesn't mention anout his poor decision making, crabbing across the field or poor creativity. Morris seems to think he can pass aswell just because he made a 2 metre pass to Briggs to set up a try. Morris actually said "people doubt his distribution but that proves them wrong." Come on Dewi anyone could have made that pass. Look what happened to him against Ireland I thought that was the end of him at centre. He can only just about play on the wing let alone any where else in the backs. Yes he scores loads of tries in the premiership but thats when he plays against leeds and Newcastle etc. Those teams can barely tackle small people let alone 6'7'' 18 stone wingers. At higher levels he isn't able to just walk through defences. I'll admit he is obviously tough to bring down but their are better players.

Meehan has tipped Banahan to be the future Bath and ENGLAND captain

The mind boggles, it really really does.
Then again, we had Borthwick for a while, so anything is possible :(
