Rugby 2012 player ratings? Players with 99

i also tink they shud b like styles, eg spies:crasher and nonu:crasher and habana:fast runner and mccaw:rucker and JdV:intercept specialist (welll sumthing like that)

Rugby 2012 should definately go FIFA 11's route with the best players from 88-92 OVR.

Yeah, i see where your coming from... it's tricky though. How about edited players cant be used to get achievements or trophies?
And you couldn't use them online otherwise every player would have 100 on every statistic...

I dunno what the best solution is but i'm not a fan of being able to just max out every players stats.
I've never been a fan of editting stats either... In any game...But in something like a franchise mode I think that you should be able to edit your plays stats, only in the franchise mode though and you get points depending on what you've been consistently doing during your games and if they include training runs during the week like the RL games.

what about created players??? what if someone wants to have a created player play in francise mode??? or for any achievements??

Achievements I'd say no to... but Franchise of course... In RL3 on Wii I created Sonny Bill Williams and added him to my franchise mode before I had even played the game ever

Yeah created players shouldn't be able to get achievements... Unless they are specific eg. if "be-a-pro' or 'virtual-pro' were included then to increase your players stats you might get points for your first try, first win, 10 tackle breaks etc.

when people say "no one should be good enough to get a 99" remember, its an arbitrary number, you're just saying, who are the single best players, if you wanted to, you could say that the best players all get 95, but it would have the same effect as giving them a 99.

In BOD we trust
he may be in his late thirties, but his game is still incredible in all aspects
Richie McCaw is a very good player, but he doesn't have the pace to get him to 99

Agreed... it's irrelevant what the top number is. as long as the players stats are relative to one another.

McCaw should be 95, and Lomu 98, so there is still room for someone to increase to 99, in a manager mode.

Castro is quite clearly alot better than any of the new zealand props....as Dan Cole dominated at the weekend and Castro keeps him out the team. Castro is the beswt prop in the world, apologies for assuming it was made in the south, the accuracy of the players was far greater for the super14 teams which is what made me think that.

Don't know if someone said this already, but I think each player should be ranked according to where they play. in other words, I think when you look at let's say Ruan Pienaar's stats his rating must be something like 80. however, when he is playing hooker (don't ever in your life do this) his rating drops to about 40, because he is not a hooker. I believe that in line outs and scrums he should suck, but unlike 08's philosophy I believe he will still be able to catch a ball. Further more I think the ratings should also depend on who the players are surrounded by. I say this because not only should their team influence their rating, bur the other side's should as well. Don't think it should be major, but young fly halfs should crumble when playing against Dan Carter. Yes it is a complex idea, but if we have to play this one for 4 years it has to be. Again on the teammates scene, I think that should be quite important let's again use Ruan Pienaar, center in one position where he has not played, so I think his 80 should become a 70 when playing there. But let's say he is playing with Dan Carter as his fly half Pienaar's 70 should become a 75. I think the "key players" should make other players play better, same for captains. I don't think John Smit is the best prop, but he should boost the whole side with 10 when he is playing as captain.

So I think all players influence the players' near him and his opposite number's rating.
Captains should influence the whole squad.
Great kicking fly halfs must influence the fullbacks.
Flankers should influence unexperienced fly halfs.

In short I think key players should not be distinguished through their rating but through their influence on their teammates and their opposition.

I agree that players overall rating should be determined by an average of the important stats for the position they are in.

Much like the latest EA Sports NHL ***les, the stats of most players change during the season depending on how they play (And the upgrades you can give players manually). Each player has a 'Potential' rating for Athleticism, Offense and Defense A+,A,A-,B+,B,B- etc etc which change if they play bad/good, stats increase/decrease... And depending on what 'type' of player they are - scorer, dangler, grinder, playmaker etc... (Rugby might have try scoring, tackling, kicking etc etc) So, if the scorer is not scoring his stats don't upgrade.

I'd also like to see the kicking (penalties/conversions) bar get smaller in pressure situations etc.

Perhaps your players skills also change in online/multiplayer modes (I believe that their has to be lan), your players build a reputation online. So by playing a young guy often you make him better.
