[RWC2023] New Zealand vs Namibia (15/09/2023)

I do think this is Namibia’s last World Cup in a while. SA is trying to support the growth of Zimbabwe, Kenya and Namibia and I can see one of the others picking up their game. I see that Namibias Welwitschias were in the First Division this year, and they finished above the other two… but they were still bottom half of the table.

Yeah South Africa is trying to be a good neighbor. I reffed a camp for Uganda’s seven side while I was down there and the blitzbokke coaches were helping out.

Biggest issue for Southern Africa teams is that algeria is putting out a team of French players based on grandparents and that might be enough to qualify

I suppose that the Apartheid regime/system was the biggest impediment on SA helping to develop rugby in the rest of the continent, in the same way that France did in Europe and, to a lesser extent, Japan did in Asia and Argentina did in South America.
