I think the Blues will win this one, but the Reds will go down fighting. Blues by 12.

latham being out must have had a huge impact on this game
[/b]

Well they were also without C.Brown,Tune,Blake,Holmes,Cordingley,McMenimen,Chapman,Moore,Horwill and Nicholas.

The Reds have pretty poor depth and that Blues team looks very good (backline almost full strength) so i wouldn't have expected anything less than a convincing win for the blues.

I hope you dont mind Rider, but i've changed the ***le of this thread so we can post all the trial results,line-ups etc.. in here.

I'm going to Force vs. Crusaders on friday (or saturday night??) during my venture to Melbourne. It should be a great game, however, apparently the all blacks players arent playing? Oh well im off to Melbourne in literally 5 mins...9 hour drive from the middle of nsw!!!

Reds v Blues game - Reds scoring was via 2 penalties and a drop goal. Who does that in a trial match..?

'Canes go down in first season hit-out
Hurricanes coach Colin Cooper certainly isn't reading anything into last night's 31-17 pre-season Super 14 rugby loss to the Chiefs at Cooks Gardens. [/b]

http://www.stuff.co.nz/3932881a1823.html

to lazy to post the full article, but the canes lost. to the chiefs none the less.

i would have gone for the cheifs anyway :)

Pre-season game results should not be taken seriously. It gives no real indication of the teams form except that it gives the Coach the chance to see which players make the bench when the regular season kicks-off.

I think the worst thing about that result was Eddie Jones' post match comments. He says that the only score that matters in a trial match is the halftime score  The Reds were down 10-6 at halftime.

:(
I know it's only a trial, but thats not the most encouraging sign if we cant put away a depleted side like that with the team we selected.

Keep in mind that they were still missing some players and that they were playing in Melbourne as well. I think some of the backline still needs more time to gel ;)

Ah, what's in the news today...

Well, the Queensland Reds got their first win of the year, with a 31-3 win over a young Samoan side last night on the Gold Coast. They lead 12-3 at halftime and put on 3 more tries in he 2nd half.

Queensland Reds 31 (Roe, Genia, Veratau, Hynes, Croft tries; Schifcofske 3 cons) defeated Samoa 3 (Lui drop goal)

The Waratahs got their year underway with a tight win over an undermanned Brumbies side, but lost 3 players to knee injuries Matt Dunning, Al Kanaar and Dave Dennis. The Waratahs lead 7-0 at halftime and scored another try in the 2nd half to secure the win.

NSW Waratahs 12 (Kurtley Beale, Lachlan Turner tries; Daniel Halangahu con) defeated ACT Brumbies 0

Yup, it`s him alright- but it was only 22m, straight over Carlos Spencer. Encouragingly, did much the same in the warm-up game vs. the Lions with his 1st touch of the ball in more than 12 months.
