Super 15: Reds - Brumbies in Brisbane (04-06-2011)
Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane (04-06-2011, 10:30 GMT)
In Brisbane on Saturday night the Reds, the top ranked team in Super Rugby, face the Brumbies, the bottom ranked team in Super Rugby 2011. Traditionally the Brumbies have had a huge edge over the Reds, having won 15/16 previous meetings before this season, however the Reds will undoubtedly start this match as huge favourites. A win for the Reds would secure top spot in the Australian conference, and could go a long way to secure top spot overall. The Brumbies have little to play for apart from pride, while individual players could be playing for Wallaby spots later in the season.
Reds – 15 Ben Lucas, 14 Luke Morahan, 13 Anthony Faingaa, 12 Ben Tapuai, 11 Digby Ioane, 10 Quade Cooper, 9 Will Genia. 8 Radike Samo, 7 Ben Coridas, 6 Scott Higginbotham, 5 James Horwill (c), 4 Rob Simmons, 3 James Slipper, 2 Saia Faingaa, 1 Ben Daley.
Subs: 16 James Hanson, 17 Greg Holmes, 18 Adam Wallace-Harrison, 19 Jake Schatz, 20 Ian Prior, 21 Will Chambers, 22 Dom Shipperley.
Brumbies - 15 Pat McCabe, 14 Henry Speight, 13 Tyrone Smith, 12 Christian Lealiifano, 11 Adam Ashley-Cooper, 10 Matt Giteau (c), 9 Patrick Phibbs; 8 Ita Vaea, 7 Julian Salvi, 6 Mitchell Chapman, 5 Mark Chisholm, 4 Ben Hand, 3 Ben Alexander, 2 Stephen Moore, 1 Jono Owen.
Subs: 16 Anthony Hegarty, 17 Jerry Yanuyanutawa, 18 Peter Kimlin, 19 Henry Vanderglas, 20 Nic White, 21 Robbie Coleman, 22 Andrew Smith.
The Reds have made a single change to their starting lineup, with Ben Coridas getting his Super Rugby debut in the 7 jersey, replacing the outstanding Beau Robinson, who is out with injury. Liam Gill was flown back from the Australian Under 20 team in Italy to cover for Robinson, but is not available for this match.
Giteau is expected to return for the Brumbies, after being ruled out late last week with toothache! Josh Valentine has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, with Patrick Phibbs coming into the starting lineup, and Nic White coming onto the bench.
A key matchup will be between Matt Giteau and Quade Cooper at first-five. Cooper has overtaken Giteau as Australia's premier 10 over the last year, and Giteau will want to prove he can still match it with Cooper.
