The new Jack Ryan movie on Amazon (Ghost War, I think?)

Terrible - starts out borderline unwatchable and peaks at just about ok

When they first go from America to Dubai is just ridiculous, never seen such OTT product placement, the lingering shot of the Emirates logo on the plane before the two characters are shown enjoying all the modcons of their first class seats
One part could have been taken straight from a Dubai tourism video, lots of drone shots of skyscrapers and fountain shows and then one of the characters talks about the award winning restaurant they're going to that evening


It's a shame because season 1 of the show is very good, but it's just been getting exponentially worse each iteration since that

Went to see the new Jackass movie

Pretty good - not their best but still enjoyable (I am a huge fan of the franchise though)
Mixture of new scenes, their favourites from the previous movies and some unseen scenes from when they filmed the show that MTV wouldn't let them put on TV

Only movies - and pretty sporadic (3 was in 2010, 4 in 2022 and now the finale 2026)
Think they did this one as a bookend to stop people asking them to come back again after the 4th one (hence it being part "Best of") - they repeatedly say during it that this is the last goodbye

They're all getting on in age and the wear and tear has definitely built up - could see the OG cast don't do much physical stuff, that's left to the newer guest stars
I remember seeing an interview where Johnny Knoxville said his doctor told him to knock all the stunt work on the head (pardon the phrasing) as he's had too many concussions and while there's never a good time to get a concussion he's at the point where one more could be life altering(/ending)

Thought it sounded naff when it first came out, but then the reviews were surprisingly good
Gave it a go and...it's surprisingly good!
Midsomer Murders meets Babe - can see this joining the Sunday afternoon family movie rotation on ITV2 etc. alongside Peter Rabbit, and the like

Just saw the trailer for the Odyssey...

Ive heard good and bad things, bit the only part of the trailor that stands out is the modern idioms, the modern American accents, and the strangeness that of a Greek poem noone in the entire trailor seems to be of greek heritage!

I read the book and saw the movie. You're right about it, they have heart. It was done pretty well I'd say.

I'm sceptical of just how many 10/10 and 100%s there are, but it does sound very good
I was completely put off by the trailers but I think I'll probably see it in the cinema now (once the crowds have died down)

Yeah same. I think people can get too hung up over the costumes and what not to be honest. It’s a ******* fantasy film basically. lol. It’s like moaning that Game of Thrones isn’t historically accurate.

I am so out of step with the overwhelming majority, it seems. Toy Story 5 is something like 95% critic and audience score on RT and I think it should be rotten. I did get a surprising amount of enjoyment out of the Minions & Monsters (ditto Sheep Detectives), even though some people literally walked out of the screening I was in.

Project Hail Mary still my favourite of the year so far although the new Evil Dead may be a cheeky personal contender. I am a big fan of the franchise.

As a guess... Colour blind casting or some ethnicity popping up allegedly in the wrong place/wrong time?

I don't really know much about the movie and will just watch it when it comes to digital platforms.
